Agreed. Hard to shoot wide open in broad daylight like that.

Did you shoot RAW? you images are flat and lacking the zeiss pop. out of the box standard profile should yield better results.

The photos don't seem to have "pop" of Zeiss, Nikon or Canon (etc.).

Actually, I don't find much of a chasm between the look of this kind of shot and what I may find on Instagram from the newest iphone. The photos in the other thread with the girl I liked a little better.

The newer Zeiss lenses don't usually have it any more, sadly. Simply put: lower element count lenses and simple optical designs add that "pop" that Leica and Zeiss have. Zeiss is focusing much more on resolution now which has killed the pop. So it doesn't have much to do with the photographer, just the lens (when it comes to the pop).
