There's some great shots of some highly detailed models on this thread. I'm interested to know which manufacturers the regular posters to this threads are sourcing their models from. Any information (manufacturers names / URL's) would be most welcome.

Cheers,

Simon.

The higher quality diecast in my collection are from: GMP, Exoto, AutoArt, Carousel1 & Danbury Mint. At the lower end is Ertl, Maisto, Revell & Burrago.

Here's a couple of examples of 1/18 vettes, the 1st one is from Exoto and the second one is a Ertl, look at the fit and finish of the door.

Exoto:

Some of these shots are simply stunning. But as my car of choice has not yet been added I feel I must contribute. Received my new 17-55 IS today so am just trying it inside until I can get out with it.
Anyway first atempt at 'studio' stuff and these were on the table with a maglite, so pretty crude and probably dont deserve to be in this thread...:o

Here are three different C3 Vettes made by Carousel1 (white), AutoArt/UT (yellow) and Revell (blue). I listed them in the order of quality IMHO from best to worst.
http://i107.photobucket.com …Red73_01/IMG_0277copy.jpg (external link)
Side view, look at the quality of sidepipes and the side mirror on the AutoArt vs. Revell:
http://i107.photobucket.com …Red73_01/IMG_0290copy.jpg (external link)
http://i107.photobucket.com …Red73_01/IMG_0284copy.jpg (external link)
http://i107.photobucket.com …Red73_01/IMG_0280copy.jpg (external link)

Front of car: Note the head light openings on the Carousel1 and AutoArt/UT are real openings and on the Revell is stamped into the diecast. Look closely at the grill work and the front bumpers. Also on the Revell look at the poor workmanship under the bumper compared to the others.
Carousel1

AutoArt/UT

Revell
IMAGE: http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m310/Red73_01/IMG_0281copy.jpg

Bottom of car: Look at the side pipe detail. If you look at the AutoArt vs the Revell. on the AutoArt you will see that the exhaust coming from the engine goes into a chambered type muffler and then there is the shield, which is what you see from the side of the car (this is the design on a real vette with this type of sidepipe), if you look at the Revell the exhaust just goes into the chrome piece of plastic.

The Hobby Bench is closing it's store in Prescott, will keep the Phoenix locations open. This is just a snapshot of the display case before I took my models out (Noted on Flickr). Some were in since they opened.

I'll just post this shot, the real Swedish S-tank is behind (built by somenone else). Guess what the front tank is built from? Taken at store.
