Hi,
I have (maybe stupidly enough) started playing with printing at home again. Last time I had an Epson R1800 I converted to use eco-solvent inks to allow me to print on vinyl media (mainly used this printer for graphics, not photos). I had many issues with colour correction on different medias so I forked out for a ColorMuki Photo to profile different media. This printer ultimately died but it was fun while it lasted.
Fast forward to now, after frustrations of print stability and general grumpiness of my Bother multi-function (MFC-J6920) which is currently getting is mainboard replaced (third time now, it's a known issue!) I splashed out for a Canon Pro-10S. I was drawn to this printer due to the fact it used pigment inks which offered better environmental resistance (UV is a big issue in this part of the world).
Been playing with the printer on a couple of different media types, Canon provides ICC profiles for their media, for aftermarket media I have been using closest match so far. I have noticed their profiles are a little dark though.
So what do others do? I can profile for each media type, however, this is time and resource consuming and I am not sure how much benefit it will provide so I am interested in what other people here do
