So I'm going on an Alaskan cruise this summer. I am going to rent a 100-400 and 2x. My question is; should I get the Canon so I can use it on my 5D4 and adapted on my A7R ii? Or should I get the Sony?

Thanks for any thoughts!

I've been on two different Alaska cruises and I used my wide lenses the most. Forget the Canon, take the Sony.

I'm just finding the focus full stop to feel like cheating on the A7mkiii. I can't believe how well it focuses and in low light.

I find I am now deleting shots that are taking up hard drive space that I would have kept on the mkii as I already have the shot nailed.

I had a fancy dress party at a mates place on Saturday night. I used my godox flash too, but out of the 160 shots I took, I only deleted 8 due to any kind of missed focus. Just unreal

Gaab both are beautiful! I like the 35mm focal view just a bit more, I think it is because the center 'hump' of the bridge is a bit closer and I just like that anchor in the image, yet at the same time the leading line of the total bridge still carries on pulling my eye to the right and the whole length of the bridge....not as much as the 18mm perspective but with the 35mm I get both. Just me....again, both very pleasing.
BUT something I needed to know, stars are fantastic on the 35/2.8, way better than what I would have bet on. Nice because I have that lens. I call it my universal lens.

I've started using the 35mm a lot lately. Loving the size of it and the image quality is great. The stars were great too, bit of a bonus . Once we get some clear weather, I want to try it on astro pano's too and see what it can do. At the moment down here, full moon = crystal clear sky, no moon = full cloud cover. I've been out once since February and managed a single shot due to clouding over.

I think sometimes this lens gets overlooked because people think of it as a 50 1.8, and everyone else's 50 1.8 is $100-$150, so $1000 seems crazy. But in terms of iq it's much more similar to something like the sigma 50 1.4. Couple that with lightning fast after (the AF on my sigma 50 1.4 art always struggled a bit) and tiny, light form factor, this lens is definitely worth the price of admission for me.

Question for the PlayMemories App users out there.....

I connected my a6500 to Wifi cause I wanted to try the "Smart Remote" app. Despite the incredibly user unfriendly method of going about connecting it to an iPhone I managed to succeed. I took a few snaps to try it and see that it is only capturing jPeg images? I didn't change anything in the camera and its always set up to take RAW shots. Am I missing something? Can I use the smart remote app to take RAW images?

Is that the 300mm? I used one on my new A7mkiii last week very briefly. Auto focus and eye focus was great, and the images are just so sharp. I used the Sigma MC-11 adapter.

My mate who owns the lens shot these ladies across the road from my shop. (He is the New Zealand Fashion Week official photographer) I'm really not sure if he was interested in the bag though

Yeah it's the 200 F2. Haven't had a chance to really test it, the weather has been horrendous here in my area over the last couple of days.

I need to pick-up a couple of accessories, need a Don Zeck lens cap, RRS lens foot and possibly a collapsible travel hood, I can't imagine ever travelling with the OEM hood.
