Thanks MM.

I've started using the 35mm a lot lately. Loving the size of it and the image quality is great. The stars were great too, bit of a bonus :). Once we get some clear weather, I want to try it on astro pano's too and see what it can do. At the moment down here, full moon = crystal clear sky, no moon = full cloud cover. I've been out once since February and managed a single shot due to clouding over.

Today clouds yes of course here but a high of 36F and the largest snowflakes of the year, wind so bitter I had trouble feeding the bierds. Snow so hard at times I thought it might be the blizzard of the year but after an hour it fizzled.

Is that the 300mm? I used one on my new A7mkiii last week very briefly. Auto focus and eye focus was great, and the images are just so sharp. I used the Sigma MC-11 adapter.

My mate who owns the lens shot these ladies across the road from my shop. (He is the New Zealand Fashion Week official photographer) I'm really not sure if he was interested in the bag though :p

And an extreme crop on the handbag. The amount of detail is stunning, the stitching and zip are so clear.

Both unedited apart from straighten and convert to Jpeg

Yeah the correct target is about 12 inches right ;)

Question for the PlayMemories App users out there.....

I connected my a6500 to Wifi cause I wanted to try the "Smart Remote" app. Despite the incredibly user unfriendly method of going about connecting it to an iPhone I managed to succeed. I took a few snaps to try it and see that it is only capturing jPeg images? I didn't change anything in the camera and its always set up to take RAW shots. Am I missing something? Can I use the smart remote app to take RAW images?
Thanks

Cory, not used that particular app but when you install smooth reflections it’s defaulted to jpeg. You need to go into the menu within the app and change to raw. I imagine it’s the same with smart remote. Open and run the app then look for a menu option

Gaab in NZ got me motivate to go outside at 0400 for some testing.
Before I get to that I have to ask why is my car again covered in snow ??????
OK testing. First time hitting up the Zeiss 35/2.8 for light stars and first time same
with the Laowa 15/2.
We were at the cabin this weekend for Milky Way but these stars are in the city
and a road going by the lake across from the house, i.e. nothing special like Gaabs
awesome bridge.
So I'm fairly pleased. I really don't have to buy a lens just for light stars. Sure the
Voigt or Loxia would be nice but how many times and I just shooting for light stars
and that extra dough would by a lot of gasoline towards Newfoundland in 34 days :)

First up the 35/2.8 and the Laowa cropped way down to approximate 35mm. To my
eye very similar stars.

Maybe to note the street lights are about 1/4 mile away.

The Red Salvia (Sage) I bought to attract hummingbirds is thriving with lots of new blossoms right now.

I'm excited as my 24-105 shipped today. So now I have my complete Sony kit. It's built around slower zooms and modest speed primes.

24-105
70-300
Irix 2.4/15
2/28
1.8/55
1.8/85

I retain Canon for the fast zooms and 100-400.

I'm interested to play with this kit on several expeditions planned this summer. I think it takes a lot of use to really know a system.

I use a Canon 5DIII and a Sony A7rIII
