Just a thanks to the forum members droning on and on.
Because of that this afternoon I updated the FW on my Spark, the controller, the
i-pad, and the batteries :)

I got out of the drone business after I bricked my Phantom Pro 4. Or, at least I think it was a 4. -? DJI adds new models before the last ones have even become 'broken in'. I didn't care for the constant need to update firmware and the sketchy methods that were required to do so.

Yes I cringed about the FW update, just thinking of the hassle it always is BUT (at least for this latest Spark update) it was quick, simple and done! Same with the controller. DJI Assistant 2 has really been overhauled to the much much better.

That said, remember I bought the cheapie drone feeling in my bones just a matter of time before it goes to never never land on its own.

I like drones a little. Its really just not me for the most part. Just something to tinker with every now and then.

OK, soon I will use the drone up at the cabin to check the stone chimney top. I have a metal roof=slick, so for once I'l use the Spark for something functional.

maybe the newer ones are different, i have had mine about 6 months and ive never done a update, never connected it to the internet,,,,ever, she just flies,,,, and flies awsome, it folds up the size of a water bottle and flies over 25 min per battery, ive never heard of any update issues with the mavic on my forum and like i say ive never updated mine, just works every day,,,

This is about an hour and 20 minutes from dowtown Auckland. Great spot for astro. Got a few more to bore you with shortly :)

Sorry, I've got a few milky way shots to post from the weekend. First time I've got out and shot in dark skies with the A7mkiii.

I am very impressed with it.

Seagulls in flight using A7mkiii and Canon 70-200 f4L with Sigma MC-11
Tracking and AF is just insane.
Zero editing, straight out of camera. Only thing I have done is crop image and convert to Jpeg

Good to read the encouraging words regarding updating FW or not even bothering to at all. Like MM, I just tinkered when I had mine but I do get tempted to get another such as the Mavic Pro from time to time.
