Well I think I'm just more of a fuji guy..
Don't get me wrong the sony 7r3 is a great camera , probably better than my Fuji in many ways and definitely better in image quality . But stil id rather shoot the fuji, i jusr enjoy it more, yes even though the sonys raw files are much better .
Turns out for me IQ isnt everything

I agree with you on the idea that Fuji is just more fun to shoot. I've thought about getting rid of Sony and going all fuji for many times. But so far I've always landed on the conclusion that I just can't. Fact is, I shoot Fuji (X100F) most of the time for personal work. And I'm pretty sure a proper Fuji X-lineup could serve me very well for most of my paid gigs (almost all weddings) too. But then again, there was only one reason I ever bought my A7rii. And that reason was dynamic range, which Fuji's X-line still just can't match that.

So all of this has me thinking about GFX for many many months already. Plus I've always wanted a medium format...

I really like the Sony files, but if I have to be honest...the a6500 is just a chore to shoot with. I was just having this thought this past weekend. It's just no fun at all for one main reason...lack of joystick just make it too cumbersome to quickly select AF point when shooting in a fast environment (think people). It's simply a PIA. Add to that the lack of a tilt screen in portrait orientation making low angle portraits a drag to shoot and the a6500 just sucks to use. There....I said it! ;-)a Alas, I'm stuck with it. Too many other things in my life preventing my from re-onvesting into another system. What I'll prolly do is take the hit on the a6500 and jump on the next version if/when it comes out.

Why not just use the touch screen to move your focus point. Keep the right side of the screen active and move it with your thumb.

Believe me guys , not an easy choice ,, i only have two lense for the 7r3 (28f2 and 85gm) but might as well only be one , the 85 GM is an awesome lens.
combine it with the sensor of the 7r3 ,:love:

There are two parts to this hobby of mine , the Photographing part and the editing .
I enjoy both in different ways of course
but i find both to be therapeutic

in any case, i love editing the 7r3's Raw files , combined withthe 85 gm.. some times i'll shoot the sony for a few days and edit .. and then use the fuji , and yes there is undeniably a difference in the rawe files between fuji and 7r3. and i dont mean in the 24mp vs 42.
the 7r3 has quicker more responsive AF in my experience. but most of my photography doesnt require blazing fast AF.
not an easy decision.. but at used prices, thats atleast $3500 sitting on a shelf that i'm only using when i want a specific look.(the look the 7r3 and 85gm give)
dont get me wrong i know the 7r3 can be more than that , but because i enjoy shooting the fuji more , i find myself currently more willing to spend on fuji glass than i am on sony.. and so for me the 7r3 is a one trick pony(although i certainly admit it is a very NICE trick)

The fuji has it flaws, but user experience just makes me want to shoot more .
and the raw files arent so bad, i would say only a hair behind the a6500 (with regards to highlight and shadow recomvery) and thats purely in pixel peeping mode

and yes OoDee, the gfx is part of the plan for me .. from what i understand there is another medium format coming soon , rangefinder type (like the xpro2) which is supposed to be about a third cheaper..(i'll have to assume it will have less features)

Yes. I've noted the rumors since December. And I'm very keenly looking to see how they turn out. If it's really going to be that much cheaper, I'm happy to see a lot of features go, as long as the sensor is the same and hopefully the basic physical interface (joystick + dials) remain. A digital medium format has been on my wishlist for several years already, so I'm definitely excited about this.

I’ve been there and done that. It doesn’t work for me. I have it set up so that the right side of the screen is active. It’s just not very responsive. The lag drives me nuts. And it’s inconsistent… Sometimes the dang AF point won’t even move. If the touch screen was lightning fast and worked flawlessly that would be much better. Unfortunately, it’s pretty much inferior technology. I would just much prefer a joystick.

In the Corkscrew? That's a great place I'm sure you know of. Got my first bobcat there.

Yeah, that’s the spot. I need to go more, but I’m a cheapskate.

I understand, different things work better for different folks. I have mine set up this way, the C3 button selects the focus point and then I just move the dial with my thumb to where I want it. But after this weekends discovery, I will just use eye AF in AF-C. Works great !

Eddie for us bierders/wildlifers the crop sensor still has its place.
The a7000 will be here soon enough with the FE 200-600mm.
That will be a big big day when the D500 and 7Diii is shot down.
