Looks like Lee Filters and holders are overrated.

Any cheap alternative that can cover a wide angle like the laowa 15mm?

does the LEE vignette?

I generally like their holder, but filters a tad expensive, and haida and others just as good, sometimes better. I've got the bombo that will work with the laowa, it's a pretty unique system in that it's ultra thin.

not sure if over rated is the right word for it, they are pricey, and they do a good job, they are relatively color neutral, the older ones anyway, that said, I have gone to the Formatt Hitech Firecrest line for all of mine, just added the 10 Stop finally.

...the LEE holder itself is my favorite on the market, small, light, easy to use and secure. You could try The Filter Dude-->http://www.thefilterdude.com/ (external link) for the holder and adapter rings. a 100mm square is going to be your best bet for a 15mm lens, the Laowa is 72mm thread, so can be done easily with most square holder systems. Round filters will tend to vignette more, and if stacked will show up in the corners.

LEE > filter dude by a wide amount, but yes, pricey. LEE's use brass rings, which are much higher quality, but I tend not to buy them because of the cost. Cheap metal does the job.

agreed...was just offering a less expensive option...my holder and all the rings are LEE, and I typically recommend them...I am pretty sure the rings are aluminum though.

you think so? they're so heavy, so I assumed brass.

I’ve used 3 filters with a WA adaptor ring on a 16mm lens with no vignette

Don’t discount Breakthrough Filters either. Quite good and not as expensive as Lee or Hitech (which is what I use).
