While I was out shooting senior portraits for Kyley, pictured here, I received notification that FedEx had delivered my a7 III. After the session, I was all set to dash home and charge the batteries for an evening shoot I had scheduled. Well, the world had other plans for me today. As I was packing up my vehicle, my MIL calls and says her car wouldn't start at the mall. I get over to where she is and for some strange reason, it's stuck in reverse and nothing was releasing the shifter. I get it towed to a local repair shop, get ready to head home after dropping my MIL off, several hours later, only to find my wife was at their house. Without the new camera lol. Long story short, I finally make it home at 11pm, unbox the new camera, start charging the batteries in a dual battery charger I purchased from Amazon, and it is taking foreverrrrrrrrr to charge!!! OOh well, I guess I'll play with it in the morning. I'm too tired now anyways. Goodnight!

Also... I wouldn't lust too hard on that 70-200. To me it's not some kind of amazing lens. I'm selling mine. I don't feel it's even on par with the canon mk2.

In what ways do you not like it...I finally shot baseball with it yesterday and loved it.

Eye-AF and the critical focus accuracy of these Sony bodies is a beautiful thing. I'm batch processing and editing huge swaths of files so my client has options to choose from. 135mm at fast aperture, and none of them are being culled out for misfocus (note the sequential file names)

The shoot itself moved at a quick pace. Minor shifts in posing change the look of a headshot dramatically, and at fast aperture you'd typically need to constantly adjust the AF point so you're focused on the eyes between shots. No need to move AF points between shots with eye AF, so there's a nice flow to the shoot that helps keep your subject in their element.

Using the cheap 50 1.8 today for the March of Dimes Walk to keep the weight down.

This is why I’m staying with Sony. You no longer have to adjust focus points. It just lands it period.

question,,,,, do u think sony will offer the pixel shift high res function for the sony a7iii in a firmware update or only keep that feature for the higher models? i used that feature on my olympus em1.2 a few times with good results and i have found a few instances where i would like to use it using the a73. i hope they do but i suspect they willprob leave it in the higher models

I have it mapped to a specific button on the camera, so when I need it, Inuse that button, like back button focus setup.

Visited Blanco State Park this weekend for some much need nature and family time. I brought my Sony kit but didn’t use it once. I was more focused on having a good time with family. The park is 30 minutes from home so I can return for a dedicated photography trip. The Blanco River winds through the park. Beautiful place. Here are a few quick smartphone shots.
