I still have the 35 f2.8. I tried to get myself to like it, but I dunno. The images out of that lens are just so flat. It's really sharp, but is completely devoid of character. I suspect there's more to that than just the f-stop, but it doesn't really hold up against the FE 35 1.4 and RX1rII

well....the 35ZA is one hell of a lens and its hard to compete with that...why would Sony make an f/2 version that would? even if only 75%...it might cannibalize sales of the 1.4.

I think there’s a differentiated place for a cheaper, smaller, optically less great 35 f2….just as the FE 85 1.8 has its place next to the 85GM and Batis 85. Or the FE 50 1.8 has its place next to the FE55 1.8, and FE50 1.4

To me it seems that what Sony is trying to avoid cannibalizing is the rx1rII

I’d like a 35/2 in the style of the 85 1.8. Heck I’d even like it in the style of the FE28

A Batis 35mm f/2 would be so nice and would help fill out the Batis line. No cannibalization issues there.

It’s sort of frustrating that Zeiss appears to have stopped (or at least drastically slowed) designing new Batis lenses. Hope I’m wrong about that observation; would love to see a new Batis announcement this year.

Gene, did you own the Phantom 4 Pro? There are quite a few variations. The Phantom 4 Obsidian looks great in the gun metal color. From my research it’s prettty much the same as the Pro. Then there is the newer Phantom 4 Pro version 2. It has quieter propellers and motors but that’s really the only difference aside from using different comm link from the controller. Anyone here have the Obsidian model?

I had the P4P and it was a great stabilized flying camera. I originally had the Mavic Pro but switched to P4P solely for IQ, and it was a big upgrade. I sold the P4P few months back in anticipation of Mavic Pro's new release with 1" sensor, but haven't heard anything official yet. Definitely check out phantompilots.com or mavicpilots.com for more information on each respective drones.

If you are not in urgent need right now, I would wait for the Mavic Pro II. To me, in addition to IQ, flying experience and portability played a big role. As much as I appreciated the upgraded IQ, taking along the P4P with rest of my gears became very cumbersome. So eventually started leaving the P4P at home unless it was really necessary. After all, what good would it do if I don't have it with me all/most of the time..

Lastly, I know Gene mentioned about his bad taste with DJI's firmware updates, but I personally had nothing but smooth and painless experience when doing firmware updates. Perhaps, DJI got better on this..

I could see that...since it is not a Sony made lens...and a 35 f/2 Batis would be sweet...I love my 25, and can't bring myself to part with it...they are such fast focusing lenses, and so accurate.

The B25 and the FE35ZA were my most used lenses on my recent work in CA...I only broke out the 18 a couple of times, and the 85 for some details...but the 25/35 team got a lot of use.

Skip to 7minutes mark to see the AF speed and AF noise.

Why Tamron was able to do this without welding an MC-11?

the lens was built from scratch for E-mount, that's why.

From what I recall, both Sigma and Tamron have access to the basic sony protocol. Not sure about samyang or tokina though; they both have AF lenses as well.

Bought mine at B&H and it got here early last Friday instead of this past Monday. Just had an 85/1.8 delivered and waiting on the 100-400 on a different Fedex truck. It's a good day here.

I might end up with a Sigma 105mm F1.4 and tamron 28-75

85GM may go if the Sigma is sharp wide open and focus as fast or faster. it's because i like the longer FL especially if I do headshots.
