Ugh nevermind, i got the 55mm f/1.8 today, Got a special deal where i got 11% back in reward certificates (I spend enough time/money at best buy thats about as good as cash to me)

So just waiting on the A7III. Please hurry oh gods of production

I came VERY close to buying an open box 50mm f/1.4 they had for only $100 more (Seriously) VERY CLOSE TO IT.. but the extra weight and such doesnt fit my needs. Beautiful lens though...

But the 55mm f/1.8 is the lens that goes in my bag on the A7 at all times and gets carried around constantly, the f/1.4 is just too much extra bulk and weight unfortunately

Sunset at the Anacortes Ferry Dock. I got here with 5 minutes to spare from an hour away. Anacortes is full of 30mph zones and works them hard so lots of 39mph for me :)

Congrats. The FE55 is definitely the more practical/fun lens and the optical quality is very high too

Gorgeous. Love the color on this and how it came out

And im eagerly awaiting my A7III, hopefully it wont be TOO long. im thankfully decently familiar with the controls and everything on the Sony from playing with them at Best Buy quite a bit..and yeah thats the conclusion i got from playing with both the 55 and 50 f/1.4, the 55 is just more practical for my particular set of needs. And its really not compromising optically

my 7DII isnt going anywhere anytime soon however, i still feel it will be the better body for birding and some other things...

Just a head’s-up for anyone here who may be interested: I may be selling my Sony Zeiss Distagon FE 35mm 1.4 ZA lens soon. It’s really awesome, but I just don’t sense that I’m using it enough for me to justify keeping one at this time. When I go out shooting (rare these days) I’m taking the Loxia 35mm and leaving the FE 35 1.4 at home (purely a size thing).

I think it’s a great copy (doesn’t seem decentered). Been very happy with the image quality from it.

Just to be clear, I’m not trying to push selling a lens here, but just wanted to give everyone in this thread advance notice of my plans in case someone here (US only) wants to jump on it.

Thank you Kenji! Congrats on your a7III. The FE 55 is a great choice.

Sunset last night was a tough one to shoot...as expected, I didn't shoot looking west...I tend to look north or south, this was looking more south. The colors popped up in odd places in the many layers of clouds....40MPH winds made it a real challenge...it didn't look like we would have any color at all, the clouds were so thick...it has rained so much here in NC the last month, almost 2 feet...and it rained all night last night, thought I was going to need a boat to get back to the conference today...
