Today I started shooting Mission Concepcion to document its condition for a client who has a contract to provide historic preservation services for the SATX Missions. I got to shoot from the roof which was cool. I asked if I could arrange for access to the roof to shoot at sunrise or sunset and they said sure thing. It was a lot of work to get all the required shots which are indicated by little arrows on a set of floor plans. I will shoot the interior space on Tuesday after work.
This is one of the cooler shots which I just finished editing. By the way, many of the shots for this project will not have true verticals since that was not the purpose of the project. This made easier to get the required shots since often I couldn't back up to get an entire wall for example.
The purpose of the images is to document the current state of each mission. Key requirements are to have proper exposure and enough detail so my client could zoom in and see if new cracks were forming and such. Glad I have this 42MP sensor. The white areas on the roof here are where they drilled core samples to check the structure. Gene would love this place.

Very interesting structure Alfredo and I love the shadow of the cross from behind the viewer too.
I wonder if the San Jose Mission is on your bucket list of historical sites to photograph? You might recall that Mission is where, the story is told, Jose Salinas, who sold 4 leagues of land to my Hodges ancestors, supposedly buried the $3,000.00 in silver coins they paid him. He died before ever telling anyone else just where he hid the money and it has never been found.
