this is my go to kit when i travel. if i find a smaller and lighter 16-35 it would be a dream! i was contemplating the 10-18 actually but i cant pull the trigger on it - its an expensive lens i cant justify

You mean the Laowa 10-18? You speak like it is already available ?????

i am sorry i forgot theres a new 10-18 lens being announced for full frame. I was actually talking about the 10-18 APSC sony lens. Its too expensive for me to experiment with. Bob Krist actually uses it with his full frame sony cameras but i went full frame for the full frame goodness - if it were cheaper i would probably experiment

I don't hesitate to use Sony APS-C lenses on full frame. I've used the SEL10-18 on the Rii a lot in the past. Who's to know unless they stare at the EXIF. Love the weight and size of most of them too. Hey, I'm a snapshooter and I've only got to please myself :)

Shot one of these guys last week and found either a twin or the same spider...I think this capture, though minus the prey item, is a better
representation of what ever it is.

Now the cool thing is I was using the Tamron EOS mount 180mm macro and with the MC11 the AF was really nice and fast. That lens was slow to focus
even on high end Canons. Sigma really knocked the MC11 and latest firmware update out of the park. It (MC11) also works better (for now) than the
Metabones V on my EOS 400DOii. Only problem is the MC11 misrepresents lenses in EXIF for those that care (not me).

you make me want to shoot birds..

honestly once in a while i'll try to shoot a small low flying plane ,, and i'll loose track of it so easily

however I don't think the little use i'd get out of it would make me feel good about speding that kind of money.. obviously for you its very worth it since you shoot a lot of wild life.

I do consider a tele zoom lens for my m4/3 though since they are much cheaper

We are all supposed to have a "good side" and a "bad side" when it comes to having our portraits done. So, for the heck of it, I took a couple of quick shots to see which side was my best considering what I have to work with in the first place. :-)

I think my left side may be a bit better. -?

^ Both look good Gene. Very sharp.

Guys, should I go for the Canon 24mm or 17mm Tilt Shift lens? I think it's time I get one as it would speed up some of my workflow.

Guys, should I go for the Canon 24mm or 17mm Tilt Shift lens? I think it's time I get one as it would speed up some of my workflow.

I always regarded the 24mm as my preferred tilt-shift unless I just had to shoot wider (extremely limited space). Optically the 24mm is totally superior (sharper, less flare issues, less CA) and visually it produces more pleasing renditions of architecture. Also bear in mind that the shift function means you can capture things at 24mm that you might otherwise need a 16mm standard lens for. And, of course, much easier to pop on a filter on the 24mm.

OTOH, if you go with the 17mm you can turn it into a 24mm by adding a 1.4x TC. But it comes at a cost as it’s making an already less sharp lens even less sharp.

Although you need to to go with your own sense of what you need, I’m going to give this my strong recommendation: start with the 24mm and add the 17mm later if you can. Both would be ideal for you imo.

But wait, there’s a possible glitch to consider: you need a really well-aligned metabones for the 24mm to work best on the a7 series cameras and it’s my understanding that the 17mm is less sensitive to adapter alignment issues. Eddie had disastrous problems with the TS-E 24mm, but I have a well-aligned Metabones IV adapter and have had no major issues with the 24mm on my a7R II.

So my final suggestion is get the TS-E 24mm and if you have any adapter issues I can mail you my adapter and see if it works any better.

guys, anyone out there who uses a Benro SLIM carbon fiber tripod for travel? I compared it with the mefoto backpacker air and although the mefoto on paper looked better due to its weight and folded length, the legs easily bend. for the same price where i am from this benro looks way more sturdy and actually has a better ball head as well

anyone who can share experience with the benro slim? or maybe the mefoto backpacker air?

thanks
