Sony Lounge Thread MKIII (All Sony cameras welcome)

First time shooting anything other than portraits with my A7iii...Missed focus a lot during this Cars and Coffee test run. I was mainly looking to capture car details while shooting wide open. Here are a few of the "better" shots from yesterday. Hoping to get more familiar with the focusing modes of Sony and circle back next week.

I have always very much liked the Chiaroscuro style of lighting (I've posted a few examples on this thread in the past) and that's how these were lit. I have been encouraged by others to develope a personal 'style', and with my current health situation pretty much confining me to 'barracks', this is an ideal style to adopt in a home studio.

Googling 'Chiaroscuro' - or Dark Food Photography - will provide numerous much better explanations of the technique than I could manage in a short post, so I hope you don't mind if I refer you to them, sooner than attempting it myself. However, if I can help in any other way, let me know.

Here's a video I saw some time ago that does a great job of describing how to take dark food photographs.

I picked up a "new to me" surf boat...the Necky Orbit Fish! Older design, carves and rips a wave. Stoked!

Here's a few shots from a really nice whitewater park about an hour north of Boise in Cascade Idaho. Really lovely place. Great family fun!

I use the Pan-Leica 100-400, she uses the Oly 300/4. Either are such a joy when
wildlifing because usually we have to walk quite a bit and mFT doesn't crack the spine after
a day of carry.

just took a look at her flickr.. nice!

I was considering the pana 100-300..

but watching reviews on the PL 100-400 .. and it does seem nice..

I did try and see if sony had any cheaper crop lenses that I could start off with on the 7r3 in crop mode as a feeler lens.

who knows maybe wildlife/nature/birds photography is something I could really get into.. then it would be worth it to spend on the sony 100-400.

(I have been trying to get more out in nature.. I have a high stress job.. which is taking its toll.
going out on hikes , or walks by a beach does seem to help.. so of course i'm trying to incorporate my photography hobby into it...)


but seems nothing really exists from sony of the same focal range or quality and price range of the Panasonic lenses
