I have always very much liked the Chiaroscuro style of lighting (I've posted a few examples on this thread in the past) and that's how these were lit. I have been encouraged by others to develope a personal 'style', and with my current health situation pretty much confining me to 'barracks', this is an ideal style to adopt in a home studio.
Googling 'Chiaroscuro' - or Dark Food Photography - will provide numerous much better explanations of the technique than I could manage in a short post, so I hope you don't mind if I refer you to them, sooner than attempting it myself. However, if I can help in any other way, let me know.
