Well last time I tried to use the camera it wouldn't read a card on slot 1, I changed the card and it worked after that. This time, it wouldn't read any of my cards in slot 1...worked fine in slot 2. So after my 4 senior sessions next week it goes in for service.

I will keep everyone posted...

Not sure, might but that wipes all my custom stuff and I dont want to have to set it all up again...

WTF is what I said...I wish it was just the card.

For your senior sessions I know you have a back up. If not .......
Anything like that happens to any thing electronic and my mind instantly looses
confidence. If that had happened specifically to me I would expect future failure, that
it was a sign of things to come.

These pics for Eddie since we are both in the campervan world.
This weekend I upgraded the AGMs to lithium ion. That necessitated quite a re-working of
the electrical system....about 12 hours of work.

Eddie the unit haning on the black panel is a product of the British Isles :) A Sterling Power dc-dc charger. I chose the 30amp model but the lithiums
can take up to 100 amps/hour. I'm just never in that kind of rush-

Here's a reason to keep a 'junker' camera. It had been raining, ladder rungs were super slick. Brought out the NEX-5 with fish-eye adapter, held it up blindly for the 'aerial' shot.
If I'd slipped I didn't want to trash even the RX100v

Nice one. From memory my DC to DC is also a Sterling

Travis, are the custom settings not held on the CF card itself so if you removed the failed card and put the new card in it might not know anymore you want to read slot 1?

i hope you're a member of the Sony Pro Support. they're really great and can even provide you a loaner if the repair takes time.

I am. So it will be going on soon.

Well yeah, my concern is that slot 2 is next, and yes I have the r2 as backup...which is why I insist on having a backup when doing paid work.

Not sure, I thought all of that was in body. I had to change it to write to slot 2 with no redundant and it worked.

5 x 35.
OK I live in a Milky Way challenge area :(
This my most grandiose attempt yet.
Tracking via Ioptron SkyTracker.
5 images taken, mount moved 15 degrees, 35 times.
Each group of 5 images processed/Smart Object/Median Stack....
resulting in 35 images to stitch via ICA.
Then processed in PScc.
The final file was huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge.
Via the a9.
Here is the Flickr version-

I learned last night that I have a lot to learn about strobe lighting...but man it was fun to learn to shape the light. I was really glad I added an AD200, and am going to buy another whole setup and bigger soft boxes. The 24" I have can still be a bit harsh. It would have been nice to be able to shoot with two lights flanking the car. Now I need to go back and find those posts about not being able to see the exposure preview in Live View when using a Sony trigger...

I'm done buying camera gear I swear

I do love the teaser as I'm a gear junky.

I think sony has really only failed me with 2 lenses, and either would be a great solution.

1. 35 F2 AF, small form factor

2. Sort of water under the bridge at this point, but the 35 F1.4 AF really should be a small form factor. That would lessen the need for the 35 F2! It should be an inch shorter and 200 grams lighter!

you can say the same about 50mm offerings, but I think it's passable on that front. Thankfully, the tamron 28-75 has been so great for me, that I'm ok with not having that 35mm option. the 35 f2.8 is also my most used lens, so I'm not exactly hurting.

either way, I LOVE seeing new gear, even if from nikon/canon. Sony has been super competitive, and with a brand like nikon coming around, I hope that sony ups the ante. Global shutter, blackout free, 4K 120, where you at ;-)a

if Nikon find a way to be able to use their existing FF lenses to this mirrorless coupled with superb AF system and eye focus continuous, then i might go to the other barber shop. :)

I realised today that ebay were doing a 3 day offer that ends at midnight tonight to cap final value fees at £3 for up to 100 listings instead of the usual 10%. The caveat is that it needs to sell first go. I just listed £3k of camera gear so I have the potential of saving £291. Nice one!

This was one of the better shots I got of this big kitty I caught hunting at Point Reyes. Unfortunately all that grass radiating all that July sunlight and heat plays havoc with 560mm, especially with the cat so close to the ground.
