Eddie, do you still have your Loxia 21? Batis 25 is an awesome lens too.

On my wish list:

FE 100-400
FE 24-105 (or Tamon zoom)
Loxia 35
DJI Drone
Synology NAS (or Drobo)

Good looking wishlist Alfredo! I’ve lately been thinking about getting the FE 100-400mm again. 24-105mm would be super nice to have as well.

For around 10 bucks, I also got a stand mount for my Surface Pro. At my age, it's great to see what the cameras LCD sees on a larger screen. I can control everything on the camera through the remote software too, including touch screen control on the Surface Pro of the focus point.

I don't think the remote view on the Surface is really all that slow as it is now and expect it to be a bit faster when the USB-C cable arrives later this week.

To be honest, I'm also looking forward to the longer cable so I can use the new laptop 'cart' I got so that I can sit down and to use the mouse and keyboard. I use a lap top so rarely, I hardly know how to use a touch pad, let alone a touch screen. My back will also love being able to sit occasionally as I set up a shot and review them right away too.

Here's a shot showing my light stand mounted Surface Pro as I took the photo below of the box the mount came in.
That is super cool Gene!

My only nit might be that I wish the background was a bit more neutral than purple.

100% agree about the bg.

The food imagery looks excellent Vinz.

Thanks David. Forgot to add the Batis 135 (or 85GM) for the occasional portrait work and the Canon 17mm TS-E.

^^ There's usually a few BH55's for sale on ebay or FM. There's not much to "break"

the 55 is massive, do you really need that big? The sirui K 40 is just as massive and dirt cheap in comparison. These things are meant for very large lenses like 150-600

it's a gigantic update to the A7ii, and to the A7, it's night and day. Hard to believe the cameras came from the same company, dont even look that different, but boy do they behave differently.

Yes, I'm on the A7 too....

xpfloyd wrote in post #18669807 (external link)
lee, it’s available brand new for £1679 from an eBay seller I’ve used lots (kachashop) if you don’t mind grey imports. It’s posted out from Ireland.

I've never really thought about grey Eddie.. It's a fair saving though! I think it's priced at £2,000

MedicineMan4040 wrote in post #18669821 (external link)
Lee as Vinz would say 'Do et!'

You're going to love the joystick and the big
battery. I turn off touch screen first thing on any
camera that has ever had it. For me it is of no
use but I think some like it and I can see touch would
be great for pulling focus in video. I just don't shoot video.

The A7iii is also killer for higher ISOs.

Touchscreen doesn't appeal to me (on paper at least) either.

DTBaan wrote in post #18669874 (external link)
it's a good upgrade.

like Robert, I don't use the touchscreen. Battery holds pretty well, I had 40% left and didnt bother recharging or bringing a spare. After the little party for a little one I still have 40% with about 200 shots.

in terms of size and comparison to the a7, its bigger and heavier so you might not like that part. but ergonomics of course is improved because its bigger. It's hard for me to use the original a7 now, and yeah it's nice to have the shutter button further out again even though it didnt bother me much having it on top.

I checked the weights, not a massive amount heavier... And like any change, you'd soon get used to it. I got used to the shutter being on top, I can get used to it being more forward again....

I'm pretty happy with what I've got. The only thing I'd like to replace is the zoom for the FE24-105 or the Tamron 28-75

I don't shoot anything fast, so in a way the cheap FE28-70 is okay just sometimes I'd like a better IQ....

I think focusing and better high ISO would be the main benefits to me. Car stuff is static, landscapes are on tripods, my kids are teenagers..... They aren't fast moving anymore.....
