My client selected this version of this scene which I shot at 16mm instead of selecting my other 3 shot pano at 24mm. The 16mm shows more of the ceiling but the desk looks a bit wonky to me. I prefer shooting my interiors at 18mm or higher.

that is what I thought, and why I made the comment...you need a leveling base or head really...video heads are so dang big and cumbersome though.

Indeed, the manfrotto 502 was my first choice, and nearly bought it, but then looked at some actual rigs with it..... too big.

The micro fluid head is tolerable in size. Panning is buttery smooth, high quality head by manfrotto. I do wish it was natively Arca Swiss , but not a big deal as the retaining screw is extremely secure. The Acratech leveling base was the smallest and lightest of its class.

Moisture and sand resistance need to be tested, but the simplistic design gives me confidence.

In use, I expect it to be as fast as the p0, as I have owned the Acratech many years back (for panoramas).

OK, I'm not sure if this is the right place for my question but I will ask it anyway: next year I'm planning another big trip to Europe and Morocco. I don't want to drag my heavy Canon gear and was thinking of getting just this awesome little Sony a6500 with possibly one lens and that's it. I would consider 2 lenses, possibly primes.

My interests are: landscape, street photography, candid shots of people and some close ups and macros but I could live without the last 2.
Since I'm going to spend a week in the desert, the lens(es) have to be weatherproof. I would prefer an f2.8 lens or faster because I'm not willing to take a tripod with me. The idea is to be there in the moment and take it in rather than concentrating on perfect shots. Cell phone shots are not an option, though my Google Pixel XL has one of the best cameras.

Some folks suggested a Sigma lens f1.4 I forget what FL it was. If shooting landscape, I'm willing to take several shots and stitch them, so an extreme wide angle lens for this little crop beast is not mandatory.
Anyway, I would appreciate any input from you, guys.

BTW, I'm not spending money on the MKIII just for that trip :-)

Thank you.

I can’t really help with your question as I don’t use that body but Cory on here does and always produces great images with it. He might be able to chime in if he sees this

Helen, I ordered on 7/7 after midnight and got the order confirmation shortly there after. I got the shipping email on Monday 7/9 after 11 AM CT. Lens was received on Wednesday 7/11 around 1 PM CT. I paid for UPS 2nd Day Air. Order # 21093633.

So you ordered on Saturday and it was shipped the next business day, ie Monday.

Helen, just wanted to say I had a good overall experience with my recent order from Adorama. My Canon tilt-shift lens arrived securely with no damage to the box or the lens itself. One improvement that could be made is that it took a long time for my order status to be updated. It kept saying in progress and then after a day or so of waiting, it finally said ready for shipping. Thank you.

We had a few minutes while waiting for everyone else to come outside before going out. Surprisingly my son was up for a few shots! Working with available light. Not golden hour at all...~6pm. Also the leaves on the trees were giving quite the green color cast making PP editing tricky (They look decent on my calibrated Mac, but horrible on my uncalibrated work PC). On the whole I'd say I'm happy with them when all things are considered.

Renata, they are probably referring to the Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Sony E (external link). I'm not familiar with that lens but I own the Sigma 35 Art and it's a very good lens, although heavy. That lens is a Canon mount so I need an adapter whereas the Sigma 24mm is made for Sony E mount.

Keep in mind too that the a6500 is a crop body at 1.5 which would make the 24mm the equivalent of 36mm.

I'm far from an expert so here's a link from the BorrowLenses Blog (external link) on 12 lenses they recommend for the Sony crop body such as the a6500.

Haha....you guys are funny!

Anyhoo...The a6500 might be good for your trip. I moved away from heavy FF canon gear to the lightweight a6500 and a few primes almost a couple years ago. On the whole I've been happy. If you go this route I'd suggest picking one up well before your trip so that you can get familiar as it's kinda a funky little camera from an ergonomic perspective. I'll go as far as to say that when coupled good glass it makes great pics but really isn't that much "fun" to shoot with. To that end I very much enjoy the small size of my kit.

For your interests you might have a look at the Sony 24/1.8 (36mm FF equiv). I really like the images I get from this lens and at 36mm FF equiv it's quite versatile. Easy to stitch a few images together for a pano but can also crop quite a bit for tighter shots. Min focus distance is quite close at just over 6 inches which is nice for pseudo-Macro. I do remember talking with one FM member a while back an that person felt the 24 had too much field curvature for his liking. I've never had a problem with it.

Another lens to look at is the new 18-135 f/3.5-5.6. I had one for a week. Put it through some paces. I found it to be quite sharp, decent colors, but too slow for my taste. I like primes.

The Sigma 16 1.4 looks to be a pretty nice lens if you want a bit wider (24mm FF equiv). It is a bit bigger though.

Lastly, I'd stay away from adapters as this adds bulk and IMO defeats the purpose of going with the tiny kit.

APS-c lens selection isn't the greatest for these cameras. But I seem to make do. I think the image quality from the a6500 is very good. AF is very good. Check out my flickr for a ton of examples with the 3 lenses in my signature. Let me know if you have any other questions.

That's correct Helen. Like I said, I was happy with the overall transaction. It was just felt like a long time between email notifications between the time I ordered and when the item shipped. Perhaps it would be a good idea to send out an email to say the order has been processed and the item is being prepared for shipment. Just an idea.

Some very crude logo ideas I was messing with. I think the last one on the bottom right has some potential. I was trying to incorporate my initials "a" and "m". I would also add my name with a good font but would not include "photography" as you often see. Kind of going for a clean Mike Kelley logo.
