Sony Lounge Thread MKIII (All Sony cameras welcome)

A few days ago I had decided to completely downsize from my small bag of primes to a single FE 24-105mm. I may still go there, but for now I'm just going to sell my Batis 135mm to thin down my collection to just a CV 12, Loxia 21, 35, and Batis 85mm.

It's actually my favorite lens I own right now, but I am always fighting myself over whether to use the 85 or 135. Since the 135 is bigger - still a lightweight lens! - I'll side with keeping things smaller. I absolutely love the Batis 85mm as well.

I know how hard it is to part with a lens that produces the kind of images you want. Good luck with the sale though and I certainly miss seeing your photos of any kind here. I hope that changes for the positive soon.

This is the cover to a condiment bowl my neighbor gave to me some time ago. I liked the design and the colors.

It was also a little test using my camera shooting from overhead while tethered to my laptop. It was very convenient to make changes from the laptop. Of course, Imaging Edge doesn't control my flashes but I can control exposure and flash compensation.

I had forgotten until I went to my editing computer that I didn't even have a card in the camera. The images are saved to the laptop directly.

A week ago...I would have jumped...but I bought a car today....lol...there goes my lens budget!

Haha! I’m on the wrong of your buying decisions twice this year.

I’ll likely get back to shooting more when the days cool a bit more.

I very much appreciate everyone’s nice comments about my inactivity in shooting this year. And just to ease any concerns just know I’m having an absolutely sensational 2018. Unfortunately, its that other enjoyable things have temporarily supplanted photography. I may never shoot as much as I had been, but I definitely need to at least shoot my local landscape stuff more often.

I know 450 seconds is a very long exposure, but the hot pixels here seem just a tad extreme, no? I only pushed the raw +1 stop exposure and +30 in the shadows.

Anyone have any insight on preventing this? (besides simply shooting shorter exposures, that is ) This isn't the first time I've seen this since owning the A7rIII. I've noticed the hot pixels popping up in exposures even as short as 30sec or so.

Stacking short exposures. That’s the appeal of smooth reflection app that Sony took away..... a ton better than shooting bulb and no need for calculations. Damn shame.

What was the ambient temp outside?

Have you tried that with ISO 50?

Adobe Camera RAW used to fix those automagically...I have not tried it lately.

I've never actually tried stacking exposures – I must just like the risk involved in waiting 5-10 minutes for extra long exposures only to find out that I botched something from the beginning.

That's a great idea though, and I will definitely give it a try!

No, I just checked and remembered that I turned it off when I first set up the camera. I always left that off with the Canons, but I should probably give it a shot to see how Sony has implemented it.

It was a bit warm, but much better than I was used to shooting in Florida summers. Probably around 80*F near the water.

I was shooting with a 15-stop filter, and figured a 16 minute exposure would have been overkill so I stuck to ISO 100. Am I mistaken, or is anything below 100 simply a simulated ISO anyways and is in-camera digitally adjusting what is actually an ISO 100 frame?

Yeah, Camera Raw used to always automatically remove the hot pixels when I opened Canon files. I wonder if I'm missing a checked setting somewhere so that it also does it with Sony.

Stand goes up to a horizontal bar holding camera.
Is there another stand also supporting the horizontal bar I can't see?
If not then your stand and the horizontal must be stout! The moment
arm weight of the camera held in that vertical position is probably 10 pounds.
