ON the other hand.

I am so unsure of this Tamron 28-75 2.8 I cannot get it to focus where or when I want but then I question if it is me or does it just have a razor thin 2.8 hyperfocal?

My old favorite canon lens the 100 L was stellar once I learned it but it had a razor thin focal point. Anyone else with this lens fight with it at 2.8?? I love its ergonomics and if appears to focus fast just not always on what I want or where.

Callum's a fine looking young man all shined up for his first day of primary school. The first couple of images, he looks a bit apprehensive. I remember (vaguely) that I was on my first day! ;-)a

I had an opportunity to play with the 28-75 yesterday and came away impressed for a lens at that price/performance point. Other than some operator error, the focusing worked very well.

It does seem to be somewhat sensitive to flare - at least more than my Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L II, but then the Canon costs almost twice as much.

One thing I didn't have time to explore further was the rendering of the out of focus areas. Redwood forests may not be the best place to do that.

Here'a a couple of test shots I took.

I don't sweat much, but today in the mid 90s and humidity from hell.
Sweat beads were running down my face and in the field doing macro putting
my body in contortions for the shot only build up the stress heat.
But even though it's super hot fall is already in the air, so get some bugs
before they are gone.

And Eriet as much as I love the 100400GM for pseudo macro the 90 still wins, on my arms
if nothing else :)

My copy of the 28-75 is more silent than most sony glass. Focus is fast. Smooth. Easy to manual focus it. I'm telling you when I have a keeper it means something. I am super picky. Hence why the only canon glass I'm keeping is my 200/2 and 16-35 2.8 III. So... if the Tamron is good by my standards it should be by most.
