Microsoft Account works for me because everything get synchronized. Some of your data get automatically backed up in OneDrive.
I don't see much value in using local account.

Nikon's upcoming mirrorless cameras look solid. No specs on them yet, but I'm sure they'll be capable cameras.

No GAS from me though. Sony does everything I need now.

The ONLY thing that has me jelly is that Nikon is launching with a 35mm f1.8 prime! C'mon Sony!

zero gas from me either, I’m done jumping ship and Sony does everything I need. I’m aure these Nikon cameras will be great though. My 35 1.8 gas is sorted too (until the rx1riii or zeiss version comes out probably :) )

Off topic here but I'm looking for some help from my fellow Sony shooters here.

My new computer will have Windows 10 Pro installed. My question is should I set it up using a Microsoft account or a local account? How have you set yours up?

Thanks!

Win 10 is on my work laptop so I can’t really help you Gene. It’s setup with my work email account

So you do have an MS account rather than a local one I assume. I do have an MS account associated with my Win 8.1 laptop but am debating whether I want to do the same when I set up my new Win 10 desktop. I'll probably go ahead and use my existing MS account and password, I know now that I can disable the login screen when Windows opens at least.

on my surface I use my google account

work I do offline account. (my preference since I dont care about syncing)

if you want your surface and desktop to sync, use the same account.

hmm... just remembered you didnt upgrade your surface to windows 10. so i'm not sure how that works :P

just a little. I do like nikon but the body seems bigger and that will ruin my experience of having a mirrorless. I still like the size of the original sony a7 versus the new.

also sony has zeiss support for lens line up so its hard to move away from zeiss :D

really is nice though. I'm looking forward to specs and what they have to offer. nikon makes good glass too. I used to joke about Nikon knowing how to use sony's sensors better than Sony in the past :P

Thanks for everyone's comments so far regarding using a local vs MS account on windows 10. I think I'm just stuck on keeping my information as private as possible but I can see that there are definite advantages to using an MS account. So, when I start my new computer, I'll go ahead and use my existing MS account login info.

On a side note, yesterday my sciatic nerve decided to flare up again so it's going to be fun lugging around the box, opening it and setting everything up.:-(

I did wind up ordering a second monitor like the one I'm already familiar with, a 2K 2560 x 1440 IPS from Dell. Heck, I get neck strain from viewing 2K on a 27" monitor now. If I set two 27" monitors side by side, I'd need a neck brace for sure. :-)

Thanks for the heads up on the 'rattle' issue. The new computer is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow and I plan on installing the secondary 1.5TB drive from my current computer to the new one. I'll know then which bays are in use and which are available. My drive that will be exported over has all my programs, keys, serial numbers, desk top shortcuts, and a spreadsheet of subscription sites and other locations such as the control panel to my personal website with the usernames/passwords and links. I'm amazed at just how many there are. -?

I have the same but 24". The good Dell monitor has good natural colors. I used to be all samsung but samsung has color enhancement and saturation so pictures would look good on the screen but when viewed on other brands the colors are not as nice and more dull. but my bonus monitor is a samsung. since its used for media and not photo editing.

hhehe 27" is indeed big when sitting up close. Looking at the picture you posted on your desk, I'm wondering how you will set up your dual. I think you need a new desk :) one with better mouse space. It looks cramp from your shot.

I have my mouse set up so that I don't need to move it very far and still cover my screen easily. I don't have any plans on setting up dual monitors. I'll be moving my current computer/monitor into the den as a backup and will give my current backup computer/monitor to my daughter or one of the grandkids. I've already reset it back to factory defaults.

As old and beat up as my desk is, I don't plan on replacing it unless I can find one with as much space and storage as this one has.

I'm quite happy with my Sony system. No plans to switch to either Nikon or Canon any time soon. The ergonomics on the new Nikon mirrorless look good though.

Big shoot on saturday at a nice studio.

I was almost tempted to buy an a73 , so 35 on one cam 85 on the other , luckily the a73 is out of stock everywhere i looked:lol:

I am tempted to get a 55 1.8
I really think i could do the entire session with just that one

of course a 24-70 gm would be nice but.. the 55 would b3 a nice small kit to bring along in general.

Loving the 35/85 combo.
Not loving the size of it though.

I do have an 85 1.4 rokinon for when i want that 1.4 look.. yes not in the same league as the gm.. but

the newly announced Panasonic LX100 II is an epic fail for me. they basically just add another another 7mp and that's it. no flippy screen, no mic input.

If you want the A73 call MO at ACE photo http://acephoto.net/ (external link) he may have a clue when in stock web is not always accurate. Tell him Paul from AZ said to call. (not sure it will help) but I shoot with Mo from time to time.

If you want the 55 1.8 let me know on PM a price and I will send you mine to try and maybe keep.
