it's strange for Nikon to do it with 1x XQD card slot only.

Just a quick note to mention the transition from my current XPS 8700 to my new XPS 8930 is going very smoothly and lightning fast so far. I'm in the process of making the interface of Windows 10 Pro appear like the more familiar to me Windows 7 Pro.

I did open the case of my new computer and verified that the 1TB SSD card is indeed mounted in the M.2 slot. While looking around, I also checked the power connections for additional hard drives and also as expected, the connection to the secondary 3TB drive was incorrect and wouldn't allow for me to get power to an install of my current secondary 1.5TB drive. I had learned of this potential problem online doing research while waiting for my new computer to be delivered. A quick search let me discover the connection that should have been used and I've now made that change. That frees up two power connectors for the two vacant secondary drive bays so now I can proceed as planned.

They are out of order but here is a link to three videos on Youtube that has helped me in setting up my new machine if anyone else is interested.

https://www.youtube.com …/UC0ckrdVs8WYEVc5KK1zVMvA (external link)

I still have a long way to go but I'll soon be swapping out my current with the new on my desk. It's almost a shame to have to put my new computer under the desk since it's a thing of beauty to behold.

I have a portable table set up next to my desk so I can work between both computers for now. Here's my new computer so far.

Awesome for you Gene! Glad the transition is going smooth and quick.
You did motivate me to look at what I have.....for the meantime my 500gb ssd will just have to do.....at least until
Photokina ;)

My current computer has a 256GB SSD card. It didn't take long to realize how small that is for me and that it's almost full of programs I've installed. To cope with that, I've installed/uninstalled several programs over time and have gotten frustrated getting messages on PS like 'disk full'. You should be in great shape with your 500GB SSD memory. I am going to be happy now too with the 1TB SSD.

Here's my current computer space situation. The "New Volume (I: ) is the one I'll be moving over to my new computer. I may do some clean up of folders/files there first. Heck, I even have the extra drive space to move my 'Photos' drive over too...hmmm.

I'm such a digital hoarder! :p

zero gas from me either, I’m done jumping ship and Sony does everything I need. I’m aure these Nikon cameras will be great though. My 35 1.8 gas is sorted too (until the rx1riii or zeiss version comes out probably :) )

spot on.

Now that I'm sony and selling the canon stuff... even if canon came out with something I will refrain from getting excited. 1.... the lenses won't be there yet and 2... sony camera is great.

Nikon only releasing 4 lenses at launch. I would have thought a few more would have been ready for the launch event. I like the digital scale on one of the videos I just saw, but will be very interested to see the price.

No GAS whatsoever, more than happy with my A7iii, but nice to see them join the mirrorless segment

I still haven’t put a Sd card in slit 2 of my a7riii so that doesn’t really bother me. The specs look great on the Nikon. I wonder what the price is

Edit - SAR stating it’s £500 more expensive than the a7riii. Nikon really going for it here, good on them. Competition will hopefully keep prices of Sony in check

I'm not gassing for the Nikon bodies but the Nikkor 500/5.6 fresnel is something I wish Sony would do.
Something I can afford and lift.

Nikon has some real issues other than just dual cards, no eye AF, tracking system looks poorly implemented(along with gimped features), buffer seems shallow, and battery rated at 300 shots or 30 minutes of video? It's Sony Gen 2 level for gen 3 level pricing.

Seems like there is also some auto exposure limitations shooting at bursts speeds, leading me to believe there is a processing bottleneck.

Edit: battery life is 10-15 minutes of video, per Nikon USA!
