I'm having panic mode over here and it seems like an 8 bay NAS is the only solution

I've been quietly eyeing the thread over on FM.......

I'm waiting to see what the Batis 40/2 brings & at what cost. I do like the old Leica M Voigtlander 40/1.4, it does help create some lovely images but it isn't that sharp wide open & the extreme corners are just mush. But, there's just something about it I like. If it needs f/2 for decent sharpness though, then both the CV40/1.2 & B40 win!! Plus one has AF. And if I get the one with AF the 40/1.4 & FE35/2.8 would go.

Hopefully, this won't get lost in all the camera/drone news but...

I had forgotten about this essential item until I began setting up my new computer. For those of you that aren't aware of it, this is a codec pack that allows your raw thumbnails to be visible in your Windows Explorer folders instead of just an ARW or PSD icon. This is the 3rd computer I've installed in on and can't imagine not being able to see the thumbnails of my psd files or raw files while viewing a folder in Explorer.

Here's the link to the software if anyone wants to check it out. The price is $9.99

delete raws.......

or at least go through them and clear out the non keepers. if still too much, downsize them to dng 10mp files, only 3MB a piece. Keeping things clean and neat helps quite a bit.

for my family snapshots, they go straight in as dng!

I have a working folder, where I import straight from card to the folder. Then to raw editor, and then delete the working images.

Biggest downside is when I multitask a lot, then do the DNG conversion, I tend to get some corrupted files, almost at the rate of 1%.

if it hits a keeper, then I have to single that one out and reprocess, which can be a hassle. Timelapses I do DNG as well, works fantastic since the raw is so flexible still.

I hear ya... yes I have way too many photos that just don't need to be on my computer. I literally do not delete anything.

but even more so is the 5D4 video... I need to start compressing my video all down to 100mbps.

One of the reasons I like the Sony 4k files so much better... 1/5 the size.

the lens has a tripod mount :-P

I'm a bit confused with the Z mount, I thought the idea would be wider and shorter lenses, and then they build this monster. On the other hand, I think their 24-70 f4 and f2.8 seem compact. The 14-30 is really compact and takes filters!

For you windows 10 users. I have my start menu set up like it was for windows 7 but I can't find a decent color combination for the start menu. I'd like light, muted colors and have the highlight color be compatible. I keep getting highlights that are green and look horrible. I haven't been able to find where to change that. No matter what I change the start menu color to, the highlights stay green.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Here's as light a gray I can use with the highlighted programs in that ugly green. :-(

I keep for family stuff, kids, holidays, stuff like that. General snapshot stuff and car shows or meets I eventually go through and batch delete. I did just that the other day actually!
