in PS, hold Control+Alt(Command+Option for mac) and press 2. it will select the brightest area of an image.

with the selection, i will add levels adjustment layer

it should create a mask
hold alt/option and click on the mask

it should show the mask only
control/command L, it should activate the levels adjustment, play with the shadow and highlight and even sometimes the midtones to enhance the mask.

I use brush sometimes to fill in the areas that didn't turn black.

i actually have a tutorial for it if you don't mind my accent, lol.

here

Thank you very much :)

Canon better have super surprise at Photokina.
I've also thought to rename Sony to SoNi since Nikon wouldn't exist now without Sony sensors.

Congrats. Super fun lens. I'm adding either that or that Laowa 10-18 one day.

Congrats. Super fun lens. I'm adding either that or that Laowa 10-18 one day.

Ya that 10-18 looks awesome. BUT... it's not available. I'll try the 12-24 out. I've always been a 16-35 shooter plus a 12 fisheye or 14 prime type thing. I went to the 15-30 years back but that ended up being kinda funky... just too big to travel with. I think the 12-24 is the perfect size/weight for travel. I hope I can get use to the range.

Just trying to go opposite what I've always done.... too many lenses. Trying to really narrow it down. I have a 100-400 coming since I sold the 70-200 which I just wasn't happy with that 2.8 lens. The 100-400 I have rented and the IQ is just what I want... sure it's a slow lens but it will track my kids baseball running type stuff, be good for zoo trips and travel easy. The 28-75 really is a special gem and the wide angle I don't really "need" a 2.8 always a want. I think my "zoom trinity" will provide me a very versatile travel arrangement. The 85 1.4 and 200/2 are my goto portrait type stuff. The 200/2 I will still use for baseball too. Won't track but will get me single shot tracking shots.

The one thing that worries me is the 10-18 is really like a UUWA which can marry to a 16-35 type thing. I feel my GAS would want both then I would want to travel with both so I the intent with the sony system is versatile and travel-able with the ability to slam my 85/200 on there for serious work.

Next swap is perhaps selling the 50 1.8 and 50A and just get the 55 1.8 since it's IQ is more my needs vs that 1.8 cheapo.

I'm really envisioning my travel setup to be 12-24, 28-75, 55 1.8

12-24, 28-75, 35 f2.8 is mine ;-)a

I know that logically, a 50 f1.8 would make more sense as it's a faster lens, but I really need to have a clip and go setup everywhere I go, and the 35 is the easiest to accomplish this. I have a clippable bag by think tank, the digital holster 5, what's a great size. Just hate he belt latch, doesnt work very well as simplistic lowepro bags, and has a tendency to get undone. I could peak clip it with no issues, but sometimes I want to keep gear concealed.

12-24 + 28-75 in the Peak everyday sling 5L is great.

on topic of home theater, not sure if I've posted, but my system took a detour a while back and turned into a mix of HT and Karaoke, added some DJ speakers and a Karoake head + chromecast for the content. it totally rocks the neighborhood :-P

install is rough, and I hope to fish the wires in the wall, but been this way for a while. Overhead speakers not shown.

I can't bring myself to sell my Canon gear. In part because I think I'd end up divorced...

I love traveling with the 35/2.8. What a great little lens. Travel for me has turned to small. I like going with the 24-105 on the 5D4 and the 35 on the Sony.

Room looks great. I can relate to having kid stuff everywhere. What in-walls are those? They look just like the JBL's I have. I have (4) 8" in-walls in my family room and (2) 6" for surrounds in the theater. The 8's in the family room really impress me. I got them so we wouldn't have big bulky speakers and not really caring about sound - but they sound fantastic!

I love all this cinema, stereo, speakers, etc stuff... Unfortunately it's no good for me at the moment. I'd like to clear the room out quite a bit, have most stuff 'hidden', and go for something that sounds better than I have but I virtually live in the room too!!

I've already deemed Canon 's first kick at FF mirrorless to be OK but no where near Sony. Purely based on historical movement in features. Canon seems to be quite slow on how they release modern features.

In the meantime I'll happily shoot the 5dmk4, and A7iii for full frame goodness.
