Amazing lighting Gene. Still looking for the sig.

Pssst! look near the bottom of the bottle. ;-)a

The lighting is with no flash, just the natural light behind me and the bar lights behind the beer.

I met this couple as I was wrapping up shooting at this location. I don't usually include people in my shots but I asked them if I could get some shots of them on the pier looking out at the lake. They were happy to oblige. I will be sending them this image to thank them for their time.

More detailed EOS R Spec. Like the Nikon Z, it seems that the camera is weak on the processor front and its a generation behind Sony. Lots of caveats in the specs. ie.e, 8fps, but only does 5fps with servo enabled. -6EV with an f1.2 lens attached. Sony is -3ev with an F2.0 lens attached, so some spec fluffing here. No mention of eye-AF or IBIS. 370 shots CIPA rating...half of the Sony rating.

EOS R
Number of effective pixels: 30.3 million pixels (Total number of pixels: 31.7 million pixels)
Image type: JPEG, RAW (14 bit), C-RAW
Dual pixel RAW support
EVF: organic EL, 0.71 times
AF point (when cross key is selected): 5,655 points
Auto Focus range: EV – 6 to 18 (23 ° C at room temperature · ISO 100 with F1.2 lens)
ISO sensitivity: 100 to 40000 (extended ISO: 50, 51200, 102400)
Shutter speed: 1/8000 to 30 seconds, bulb
Continuous shooting performance: Up to 8 frames per second (at servo AF: up to 5 frames / sec)
Video: 4K30p, full HD 60p, HD 120p
Rear liquid crystal: 3.15 type 2.1 million dots touch panel
Battery: LP – E 6 N / LP – E 6 (LP – E 6 can not charge the camera USB)
Recording medium: SD / SDHC / SDXC card
Size: 135.8 x 98.3 x 84.4 mm
Weight: 660 g (including battery / memory card) · 580 g (body only)
Looking through the full system specification PDF, we noticed some important things mentioned in there;

UHS type SD cards are used
The number of pixels of the viewfinder is unknown / not mentioned. The .71x magnification is the same as the 5D Mark IV
The EVF eyepoint is a relaxed 23mm
No AF point spot metering
4k up to a 480Mbps bitrate (no mention of bit depth)
it appears as if the camera will auto-crop with EF-S lenses to some extent
Five thousand six hundred and fifty five AF points.
No mention of eye AF, only face tracking is mentioned.
USB 3.1
370 shots CIPA rating 450 with power saving
3 custom shooting modes
Seems to support electronic shutter (silent shutter)
The strange looking < > bar on the back of the camera seems to be called the m-fn bar and can be programmed for ISO Speed, white balance, check focus / display info, movie shooting, Flexible Priority AE or User customization. It supports four types of actions, left, right, slide and press.

I've always been impressed with dual pixel capability. Maybe even more so than what sony regular face tracking can do. But the eyeAF helps vastly.

I'm not really excited over this camera. no IBIS, battery life and joystick. The 3 reasons I went to sony.

Yeah when I heard that nikon was releasing a 58mm r .95 and canon had a 28-75 f2 my first reaction was to wonder why sony hadn't made equivalent lenses...then I saw the dimensions on those lenses and I started to realize why.

I think the tamron 28-75 is the right balance for a zoom. If I want those fast apertures, f1.4 primes and dual bodies if necessary is the way to go.

Smart approach especially for the spine.

I'll need to edit this photo with a calibrated monitor. The A73 with adapted canon UWA sure pushed the limits of the camera. No mono pod or tripod I treked this forest light show with the family. The entire show the sound and lighting was jaw dropping. Cannot disturb the flow of people so it was all handheld. IBIS is amazing!!!

I should really give these images justice and use a calibrated IPS monitor...but on the run!

I brought my fuji X-t2 with 10-24mm hoping the lighting would be a tad brighter. I gave it an honest test run but knew it wouldn't do what i wanted unless I had my 16mm f/1.4. This is where i wanted wider images than 24mm FOV.

The 5dmk4 wouldn't have been able to pull such images either because the lack of IBIS. This lightshow convince me that i will need a camera that produces "what you see is what you get" and have IBIS.

Surely this is a Sony forum but I'm totally blown away with this system!!!!!!

I really shouldn't be posting mediocre post processing but this cheap laptop is all I have at the moment!!

I've never tried to be bold enough to shoot with no monopod with this type of situations. There was speakers surrounding the whole area giving such an incredible experience. IBIS and Sony cmos sensor ......incredible. I will say 100% I would not have been able to get the amount of keepers with my 5dmk4 without the IBIS in the sony body.

Can you believe the Canon RF 28-70mm f/2L USM is 1430 grams!!!. That’s mental. Wonder how all the canon folks are feeling about that after years of saying Sony isn’t that much lighter for comparable lenses. The GM is 886 and still a tad too heavy.

If the mirrorless body doesn’t have ibis or eye af and the lenses are dslr size or bigger then what’s the point? Would you not be better sticking with the 5D4?
