Well I'm registered with FAA and have all my birds tagged. I stay LOS mostly and under 400' limit. I break the rules every now and then but I'm in class B air space so I don't jack around too much. This shot was taken around 800' from my house at approx 250' elevation. I really prefer shots around the 175-250' range. Adds a unique look. You go up too high and it's just eh... looks like taken out of an airplane window.

I just fly the things for fun and take photos 90% of the time. The new 1" sensor is really nice. It's not SLR but it's a substantial improvement over the 1/2.3" 12MP sensor.

i am on the fence for the new mavic, i have the mavic 1 and i am blown away with the little camera, with some tweaking and technique the images are pretty good for the size of the camera, i try and bracket every shot and blend in lightroom then edit in luminar to bring out as much detail as possible then finish in noisless to clean her up, the images i have seen on the mav2 look great,i am sooooo on the fence,,,,,haha, in this shot i wanted to get as much of the lake as possible in the background and the frozen golf course in the foreground, pretty happy how it turned out, if there wasnt so much cool stuff out right now i would grab a mav2, i want the nikon p1000 and the tamron 28-75 fe......or the mav2,,,,,

I just ordered a Godox AD200 and XPro-S trigger. I think it should hopefully be here by the weekend so I can give it a try.

I can't believe how much I spent on speedlights over the years, these are a way better option IMO.

I was having issues with the MC-11 on version 1.15. When going past -2EV, the exposure simulation wasn't updating so even though the image would capture correctly, the preview in the EVF would not change.

I updated to 1.16 and the problem is now gone. The AF seems to be just as responsive so I'll probably stick to this version for a while now unless I come across more issues.

Nice Charlie! Few questions. On the first 6 seconds how are you making the forward momentum? Are you just moving the tripod every shot like a hyper lapse? Do you use a built in app or is that all manual with an intervalometer?

Nice job Charlie. I'm also curious what you used as the slider to move the camera.

yes, hyperlapse, with movement every step. Internal/external intervalometer is worthless in that scenario, however, I do use my wired intervalometer just for the wired trigger to prevent any shake issues.

So to plan the shot, I take note of the start and end, and aim for 300-400 shots. With some basic guesstimating, thought I would need 6" per movement or 2/3 shoe lengths, so that's how I got my movement. Near the end, figured I didnt have enough to finish, so I started doing half the movement, like 3" for the gradual slowdown rather than hard stop, and it turned out well.

a few takeways from doing that sort of thing, a point of interest with straight lines, you'll need some sort of reference to stabilize. in post.

a video head or one with tilt and pan ONLY works much better than ballhead

shutter speeds you want 1-5 seconds is the best, because once you factor in movement, you may have timing off and uneven cloud movement. Completely manual works slightly better than aperture priority, but either can work. LRTimelapse or TLDF is a necessity for post processing.
