Finished the test shots of the FE 12-24 and it looks like I have an excellent copy. It's everything I hoped it would be and will fit in nicely with my other E mount lenses..

Change of tack here -
Input welcome...
I'm thinking of moving to the SEL1635Z f4 and being retired I have to sell gear to get gear these days.
The Loxia 21 and FE 28 f2 would go to fund the switch. I had the naieve dream of doing this switch for the upcoming Sony 16-35 f2.8 GM and adding the Sony 55 f1.8 to the sale (plus cash) but started to think of the extra weight vs the anticipated quality the GM would deliver?
Given that I have been hit and miss with manual focus using the Loxia 21 and whilst I may miss the colour and quality and sunstars, I may find something more usable in that I might take more images with the 16-35 f4 or GM, all Suggestions welcome but I'm only interested in a native FE solution ߘ

I'm shooting the 16-35f4, and I do like a lot about the lens. IQ is pretty good and size is reasonable.

While sun starts aren't loxia/ voigtlander, but the are really good.

Got one of those holdfast money maker harnesses. I know its vain, but if I'm hired to shoot an event, especially a wedding, I try not to look frumpy.

At any rate, the first thing I did was removed the screw mounts that come with it and replaced them with peak design anchor links. The horror stories of cameras falling off of these things scare the crap out of me. I can see why it happens....the cameras swing around so much on these things that the screws are bound to untorque themselves from the tripod mount overtime. This has happened to me with black rapid straps, which is why I no longer use them.

I use anchor links attached to the the camera strap links instead of the tripod mount, and for extra stability, use the capture clips to keep the cameras from swinging around when I'm not actively shooting. When I am actively shooting, being able to quickly bring both cameras up to shoot quickly is nice, but keeping them stable when I'm moving around is important too. I used it today for my an event and it really worked well.

Very kind of you. Excellent copy.....but I think this lens is made for the a6xxx series where I can get
an effective 135mm.....makes me a bit further away from the bugs which helps if they are skittish.

You have the e-mount version? Trying to steer clear of adapters going forward (exception at 35mm till Zeiss makes a Batis 35mm).

M-mount. The M-adapter is one situation where I don't mind an adapter. It is practically invisible.

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

Shot with the FE50mm today...not overwhelmed...its sharp, but the color rendering is not what I like...kinda wish I had gone the 85GM route...oh well. I need 50mm in the bag, I can warm things up in post.

Mission Concepcion - San Antonio, Tx

Loxia 21

Note: The palm tree had a light in it. I don't particularly like the effect it gave but I decided to leave it in place since I wanted to stay as true as possible to the scene I saw and then captured.

No the f/1.4 Za... About 1100 bucks more than that one! Which is why I feel a little let down, I was hoping for something that just impressed me...

David, I am still in my return window... Considering it too...

I would return it...ship it back Monday.
A. You want the 85mm GM, probably make you happier,

B. You still have an amazing 50mm in the Sigma, which I agree, based on your samples, has nicer bokeh.

C. If you haven't already, you might also try the little FE 55mm 1.8...It's impressive imo. Bokeh looks good to me. It is supposedly not quite as sharp wide open as Sigma or Sony 50mm 1.4 ZA, but excellent regardless. I have one and am very pleased with it. Really love its small size.
