I held one briefly a couple weeks ago...had a 135L mounted...it felt like a Canon...sounded like a Canon...faster AF than any Canon I had before...and from the samples I saw it was sharper too...but I don't have any desire to go back...the sensor is still behind where Sony is...

It actually feels like a Canon DSLR....as in, it doesn't feel small at all for better or worse.

AF is fast...shutter lag is really long.

Is that the Canon R?
A wildlife buddy of mine in Canada is sending his back.
He says the AF for wildlife is horrible/half-baked and that Canon
should not have released such an embarrassment. For landscaping
he said it is fine.

Flickr/Smugmug changing policies

When owned by yahoo as a free subscription you had 1TB, now owned by Smugmug it's now limiting to only 1000 images, anything over 1K will be deleted

Annual fee for Pro now is $50 get 30% off first year.

*Free members with more than 1,000 photos or videos uploaded to Flickr have until Tuesday, January 8, 2019, to upgrade to Pro or download content over the limit. After January 8, 2019, members over the limit will no longer be able to upload new photos to Flickr. After February 5, 2019, free accounts that contain over 1,000 photos or videos will have content actively deleted -- starting from oldest to newest date uploaded -- to meet the new limit.

Yeah, I saw that this morning and posted a thread about it in General Industry forum. Not sure how I feel about it, but it's going to screw me since I have just under 2k images on there and I really don't think that it's worth $50/year for what, in my use, is more like another social media site as opposed to the portfolio management that they seem to be aiming for. I really wish that they would have just lowered the (ludicrously generous) storage limit rather than have an image cap (I'm using less than 1GB).

I have 7,287 photos on there......

But I'm only using 0.2% of 1Tb

Crazy!! No way am I paying £50 a year for a Pro account!

More akin to the original a7 since the EOS R has a PDAF system.

Hehe yeah that an the burst rates and shutter lag are pretty piss-poor based on my limited time with the cam.

It's a really solid feeling camera..really well built. But once you start shooting with it, it kind of sputters. Performance and shooting experience feels like a full frame rebel

it felt nice in the hands :) but yeah its too big and bulky for my likings. my thoughts always was a full frame rebel. weigh's more than what we are used to but it's lighter than dslr so folks coming from canon will see it as an eye changer.

I do love how the top looks but that dumb touch side dial is a terrible design. the evf was slow and choppy but the live view is very good.

i havent been able to see one in person yet but my local shop is raving about the nikon full frame mirrorless models, says hasnt had any returns as of yet, looks promising anyways, one feature on my olympus i wish the sony had is the 2 buttons on the side by the lens removal button. on the oly i can map those to what i want, i find them incredbly useful and a very natural spot as your fingers are like right there,,,, when ever i switch over from the oly to sony i feel for those,,,,,,and sadly not there,,,,-?

Bye bye flickr. Going to host from my website from now on.

$49 a year is not much by itself...but getting nickel and dimed by multiple subscriptions gets expensive and I've been trying to keep non value-added subscriptions in check. Flickr as a social platform is really lacking anyway, and there are too many other hosting alternatives.
