Sooo, I crashed the drone today (DOH!!). I was shooting some video of a bridge we built recently at work and stupidly misjudged the height of the trees I was standing under. I was flying the drone around in an arc whilst rotating to keep the bridge in the frame from about 45feet and I heard it hitting the branches on the tree above. Before I could react it was crashing to the ground hitting multiple branches on the way down. Luckily it landed on grass and the only thing that seems to be damaged is the blades which I have now swapped. Seems to be flying and functioning as it should so a lucky escape.

I’ll post the footage tomorrow so you can have a laugh at my stupidity :)

Part of the learning process! Glad all survived. I flew straight into a giant boulder full on speed. The Spark bounced/deflected 12 feet away, landed on its
back. Be flying fine ever since.
They do make 'em stout, but why didn't obstacle avoidance kick in ???

Be a while before I'm fully aware of the FE24/1.4; here's the next snap.
Three filters came today after I got back from exploring....can motion blur
water now, wish they'd gotten here yesterday.

An entire city(Paradise, Ca) 14miles away from us turned into hell and most likely be gone from the map. From 1000acres this morning to 18000 now and 0 contained.

Search Camp Fire in Norcal.

We’re all scared now. Raining with ashes and dark all day.

My thoughts are with you and everyone else in that area Vinz. I've gone through fires near enough that ash and embers land all around so I know how big a concern that can be.

Stay safe my friend.

Yes those are the Roush heat extractors. I had American Racing 1-7/8" long tubes into a Corsa double x pipe + extreme catback . All 3"...it was LOUD as Hell!

I thought so...those are on my list..I am going to do the Corsa Sport in about a month...no long tubes for me...my wife already told me I can't make it wake up the neighbors...that C7 of yours is quite the machine.

Vinz, stay safe, I have been watching that develop today...scary stuff man.

I was seconds away from buying the Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 but stopped myself at the last monent. It honestly looks like a great lens but considering I have my 85mm and have never really been that fond of 50mm.

I really like the size and weight of the Zeiss 55mm but at the same time, I love 35mm and would like a fast f/1.4 lens. Because of this I've decided the Sigma 35mm Art is my best option despite its size and weight. It's also nearly $200 cheaper where I live so I see it as the better option.

I can only tell you what we did with the Tubbs fire a year ago. Start packing your papers, valuables and clothes. Be ready to evacuate. Gas up the cars. Evacuation routes quickly become gridlocked and folks will run out of gas.

I see it jumped 99 south of Chico and they're evacuating all around up to the Chico city limits on 32. A close friend is a school administrator in Chico, but lives in Paradise. She went to work and the fire blew up. She can't get home. The area all around her house burned and her dog is missing. The school next to her house was saved, so she's got her fingers crossed.

We're 115 air miles SW of you and the smoke and ash from your fire have covered our sun since 11am.

On twitter @CAFireScanner and @ButteSheriff seem to have the best info. You can listen to CalFire radio on https://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/22956/web (external link)

Good luck, be safe, and if we can do anything to help, let me know.

Tim

I found out afterwards it doesn’t detect branches well due to the small surface area

Thanks guys. We’re all packed loaded in our car and on standby mode. My wife is a nurse and working though. She needs to stay at the hospital. As of now(1:03am), there’s no evacuation order yet but if my wife is with us, we left already.

Thanks to all.
