Thanks bros.

We’re good. No evac order for our area. A small part of Chico got evacuated last night but they’re allowed to come back now so that sounds good.

This is how it looks in front of our house and it’s 10:30am

That's good news really glad you and family are safe ! So many people lost their lives in Portugal over the last couple of years due to intense forest fires, mostly in central Portugal where there are huge plantations of Eucalyptus forests, basically powder kegs. Things are replaceable they are just things, family, friends and fellow human beings never are. I had an opportunity to witness these fires last year it scared the hell out of me to see what looked like a tornado made of fire it's a sight I will never forget.

Scary. We have huge plumes of smoke coming from the Malibu fires, not that color yet, but it's coming

It really is a scarry sight to behold when you see the huge plumes of fire and smoke, this was from a fire back in 2012, it looked like the sky was on fire

I was seconds away from buying the Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 but stopped myself at the last monent. It honestly looks like a great lens but considering I have my 85mm and have never really been that fond of 50mm.

I really like the size and weight of the Zeiss 55mm but at the same time, I love 35mm and would like a fast f/1.4 lens. Because of this I've decided the Sigma 35mm Art is my best option despite its size and weight. It's also nearly $200 cheaper where I live so I see it as the better option.

There are no bad decisions there--just different ones.

Wow--I'm glad you are safe.

Jose I thought of Killarney Provincial Park while
looking at this rock by the river.
We can go 15 miles in the opposite direction and feel like we're in Utah.
Small pockets of variety here and there, alas 99% of my area is tree covered
typical southern Appalachians.

Woo hoo! A couple days ago, I bookmarked a 5 or 6 filtered searches at various camera shops (B&H, KEH, Adorama, etc) so that I could obsessively/compulsively check them for sales and new listings. A few hours ago, a new listing popped up at a local shop. I called immediately and had them put it aside and then hustled over after dinner. I now have a near-mint ZF.2 Distagon 21/2.8 and was able to get it for less than $600 (and they threw in an affordable adapter - both sides fit surprisingly well, but I'll probably order a Metabones, anyway - the tripod mount will be welcome).

Super stoked, now I've just gotta wait for the sun to come back up tomorrow. :-D

If you have a link, I'd appreciate it.

The Pro for Sony version went up to $200 a couple months ago, the B&H pricing @ $80 was the lone holdout, as far as I can find, and that went up to $200 yesterday or so. At this point, the best pricing that I can find on Pro for Sony is $120 total - buying v10 for Sony on Amazon ($50) and upgrading it to v11 for Sony (additional $70).

wow...I stand corrected...I did not realize that they raised the price...my apologies...even on the PhaseOne site its $200 now...kinda glad I got it when I did...even though I still have not migrated to it...I love some of the things it can do...but don't like other things.

Damn - I was hoping that you had a secret source that I hadn't uncovered! :-P

In the short time that I've used it, I really like the layers, the color selection tools and that levels adjustment histogram-thingie is just killer. Well, and I just like the colors that it puts out. I'll probably pony up the $120 before that avenue closes, too, but still bummed that I missed out.

It's a legendary lens, but for 600, ide check out the loxia or CV 21 for just a little more, and seemingly very competent.

I looked at the CV21 threads/images/reviews a lot. Looks like a great lens and the combination of IQ & size nearly won me over. In the end, though, I like what I've seen from the D 21 more and felt that it might bother me if I went with the CV21 and wasn't *totally* in love.

Congrats on your new acquisition. Of all the Zeiss Ze wide glass that I have owned the 21 has been my favourite, it's a amazing piece of glass and at that price even more so. I shot with that lens for years and it was my go to lens for lanscape work when I was shooting Canon and with Sony for a bit. I've since replaced it with the Loxia 21 but honestly I kind of miss using it and often thought about re-buying it, something about the manual focus feel and outright build quality of that lens that I miss.
