Well finally recieved my new A7R3 to replace the R2 that I have been using for the last couple of years. Never really felt that this was a significant upgrade for me when the R3 was launched but I am pleasantly surprised with the R3, especially being able to use eye-autofocus with adapted lenses ! Still waitng on my L-plate so the camera feels odd in my hands right now but from a functionality perspective I'm happy.

I'm considering purchasing a battery grip for the camera, I had one when I had the A7R, never used one on the R2 but now that I have a fair amount of the larger Sony Zoom lenses I'm considering purchasing it. Does anyone on the board have one that can provide some feedback on the useability of the grip? It kind-of defeats the purpose of the small body in my opinion but I just get the sense that the grip will provide some addition ergonomics to a camera that I have always felt was just a little to small for my liking.

I have Sony grips for both the r2 and a9...love them and dont like to shoot handheld without them. Tripod mounted doesnt matter but handheld for me they fit so much better. And two batteries is nice too.

Here's how my boneless turkey breast roast turned out. The hardest part was removing the netting without taking too much skin with it.

Looks good. Here's ours just before it came out of the oven.

I'd be useless as an American, as I don't like turkey - but those last two images look so tempting that I could almost be converted.

Most people that don't like turkey is because it's too dry. Try roasting one breast side down and the breast meat will be much moister. It won't look as pretty like Tim's that way though.

The other way to get a moist turkey is to soak it overnight in a brine before cooking it.

But we're good with steaks, lamb, or ham too. :-)

YEY!!! rumor out about a 60mpx sensor that may be in an A9R

Perhaps I waited this cycle out right by not upgrading the R2 to an R3.

Be nice to have a pair of A9's one fast one high rez

That's interesting Gene, I like turkey very much but I prefer it dry, moist poultry just dosen't work for me.:-)

I was planning to do the same thing, waiting for the A9R but I put that aside and upgraded from the R2 to the R3 last week. In the end I think the A9R might be price inhibiting for me at this point and honestly the R3 hits almost every requirement that I have.

I had the grip on the A7R but skipped it when I went to the R2 but I'm now considering it for the R3 because I now have a fair amount of larger type lenses that would benefit from the extended height and additional weight. My only concern is I still use the TAP with my manual Leica and Zeiss lenses and I'm not sure the TAP can be mounted with the GRIP, I'll need to test it out prior to purchasing given the pretty heft price tag of the grip.
