Slapped on my new acquisition. Pleased with a big pig lens NOW I must get back on track and shoot more!!

My GM 16-35 f/2.8 is still in the "shop". Turns out the circuit board in the brand new lens is NFG. It causes my A7iii to have a black screen and make it appear that the camera is writing to my SD cards. This does not happen with my other glass with A7iii.

Authorized repair shop and even Sony has not really seen such an issue before. There is a request to get a complete new hardware replacement now.

I love the GM 16-35 alot but man has this been a painful experience. Luckily I use my MC11 with my Canon 16-35 f/2.8mk2. Just about to buy the new Canon 16-35 f/2.8mk3 in the meantime but ended up buying a GM 70-200 f/2.8

Sony Canada is actually pretty good for response I "think". I'll keep people posted if you care :P

That sux Alan, I have the 16-35 and it has over the last 6 months or so become my favourite lanscape lens. What is the Canadian repair facility that you sent it too?

I got a paid real-estate gig yesterday which includes drone stills and video. I can't wait to finish processing.

My first flight were paid gigs. I also have a couple of drone stills of a commercial building 30mins before the house.

There's a charging case for the DJI pocket...not sure if it comes with it or not, but it'll charge it while you stow it away which is nice. Same sort of deal as true wireless earbuds....battery life in a single session isn't great, but charging between sessions while out makes up for it.

Stabilization is the mental block for me when it comes to video. I'd like to make more serious video productions, but stabilization matters here. I've got gimbals for my a7rIII, but its huge and a PITA to balance every time I pull it out or swap glass. Smartphone video cams are decent, but not great as we all know.

I think using the DJI pocket to shoot at least some of my video will get me over that mental block. I really want more video of the kids that isn't random crap my wife is shooting on her iPhone.

the form factor alone might make this thing worthwhile. If I can record and get straight to phone, then it would be highly desirable, as I find that editing on phone with lumafusion, I can make fairly good quality videos. Only issue is integrating external soundtracks can be a pain on the phone, easy editing can make or break your desire to make videos. Lumafusion, hands down, the best editing on phone software, very comparable to Final Cut or Premiere for beginners. Much better than iMovie. That software alone, helped me break my video barrier, I would simply make small videos everyday, chop them up, learn how to build simplistic storylines, then post them to FB stories to get an idea of what people would watch and what they would not. I have segmenting software that chops up my stories into 20 second clips and stream them all on FB stories.

At first, it would be a miracle if they watched a full 2 minute clips

it's like youtube's algorithms, they measure how many videos watch till end to gauge how interesting it is.

This doesn't even include low light and I suspect osmo beats it handily in that scenario.

Fusion Cine in Vancouver. It's a well respected place for videographers too!

Just sitting tight and wait for Sony Canada to confirm that I get a new fresh lens instead of attempting to fix a defective new one.

The GM 16-35mm is my universal zoom that I use. Man I love this beast!!!

took the lonely ol 28-75 kit lens out for an eve with a local band. this lens continues to amaze me, it tried to pull eye focus at nearly every focal length. i luv the focal lenght for events like this so i am conviced i need/want the tamron 28-75.

couple more with ol kit lens. super fun night,

haha even got a photo of some one taking a photo,,,haha. not sure how hygenic licking a guitar is,,,,haha, so fun

Are you looking to stay on or off WDW property for lodging? We usually stay at a WDW resort because it simplifies getting around but it's more expensive

We went last year for a week, Saturday night until Saturday morning. Stayed th first two nights at the Hyatt in the airport and from Monday through Friday at Port Orleans. Really liked taking the boat to Disney Springs. Also being able to take the shuttle buses instead of having to worry about parking each day saved a lot of time and I’m sure money. Told my wife though, going to a WDW will be like the Olympics, every 4 years. Last trip ended up costing me an a9 worth and that was with a pre-3 year old with free admission.

Good to see that you guys are all well and some great shooting. Towards the end of the year I’m thinking of treating myself to a system. The conservative and safe option is to just go for the a7iii and some glass. A friend is going to let me borrow his Nikon Z6 and glass over the next weekend. For a Gen 1 release, it does a lot right (better EVF, better rear screen, better touch) but lots of issues (single card slot, no eye af, slower tracking). But the glass looks sharp corner to corner and they have what I want, a native fast 35, which is my favorite. I’ll report what I end up with. Otherwise, happy holidays guys!

I've seen some of the samples on other boards and it looks like it pretty nice addition to FE line-up. The 24mm FL has neve been a FL that I shot very much with I have a very compact 25mm Zeiss ZM that I use, I prefer the 21mm which I have covered with the Loxia. We've come a log way from the early days of FE in terms of lenses available for this mount.

On another note, I was at my local camera store today and I had a chance to play a bit with the Nikon Z7, it's a nice camera but not sure what all the excitment is about quite frankly.

I also prefer 21mm in my Loxia.

Yes very much so, its at the top of the list for me after a 70-200 at this point...

Then ill have 24, 55, 90 and 70-200 plus 150-600 for my A7III...

I was going to grab the 24-105 but the situations id use it for id honestly be better off renting it TBH...

May go to best buy later, my best buy has a 70-200 f/4 on display and i am trying to come up with an idea on how to test if im ok with its MM or not, I'm thinking shooting the other Sony cameras there with it might give a good close approximation, sadly no GM at mine (Though i know a guy there whos shot it)

Its a gamble since primarily im worried about it for my shots of flowers and ETC, i wont be able to find THAT out until spring at this point... The GM is the safe buy but id have to wait for the 24mm a lot longer..but if it serves my needs better then id rather spend the money now and not mess with selling the f/4 and coming up with the cash to get the f/2.8 later...

I wouldn't mind having a 24-105 lens for travel. Tough choice on your 70-200. If I was shooting portraits, I would go for the 70-200 f2.8.

I'm still into shooting different systems for different render and colours. Just picked up a GM 70-200 building my Sony gear.

I've never owned a Sigma lens. They are definitely great performing lenses.

Took out the Mavic 2 out this morning. Grabbed some SATX skyline shots at sunrise. It was quite windy this morning so I didn't fly very long. Slowly getting more comfortable flying though.

I dont travel too much or often enough, thats kinda my dilemma, id use the 24-105...for travel.. but since i dont do that often enough the 24mm f/1.4 would be used a lot more (and i dont think id mind running the 24/55/90 triplet as a lightweight travel setup either depending on where and what im doing)

But yeah, im kind of leaning towards the 70-200 f/2.8 right now for a lot of reasons... even though its very expensive.. the 24mm f/1.4 isnt quite in stock yet either at this time so im sorta leaving it out of the equation... I do use it for portraits and action stuff quite a lot in addition to the flowers (where the f/2.8 has far better MM) I mean, im seriously a huge telephoto user who loves using telephotos so for me a 70-200 is a VERY heavy used lens, like of all my lenses my most used are a three-way tie between the two macros Ive had (100L and 90mm G combined) the 150-600 and the Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS II

My first RE project with some drone clips and shots.

I need to get used to framing with the drones 4K HQ mode which is 75degrees FOV. It's suppose to have better quality and only format that can benefit to 10-bit. The wider option is the full FOV which is suppose to have an FOV of 55degrees.

The twilight shots weren't in the plan that's why they were taken late and had to do longer exposure which resulted to some annoying sunstar.

Very nice Vinz. I might suggest doing some very slow pans or slides as well as zoom-ins and zoom-outs.
