My gas has been in check since I picked up the a7riii
No big deficiencies in gear leaving me wanting more and I've actually paired my kit down quite a bit.
I've sold all of my Canon FD 35mm kit. Does that count?
lol

Do you use it much? Do you have any shots of it side by side with the R3? I've always been very intrigued by it, but the price is hard to swallow without the ability to change lenses. Basically seems you are paying a lot to get the most compact 42MP camera you can. Which is not a bad thing at all. I just wish it was down in the 2k range. Edit: Didn't realize you have one too, mystik. I use it all the time and love it. Basically its my 35mm lens that sits between my B25 and B85. Its also my single camera/lens when I want to go small. Other times ill take a wide (either CV15 or lox 21) along with my rx1rii and B85 (I like sticking to 3 lenses for walkabout). The output is essentially the same as my A7RIII as the sensors are similar. Operation is not the same though but I live with its quirks. Eye AF is A7RII level, no joystick etc etc. I picked up mine used for £1900 which is on the high side for a lens but when I factor in the fact its also a standalone camera and has awesome files im fine with it. But then I kept nagging myself that I sold the 24-105L after about a year of owning it as I hardly used it because I found it 'boring'........ The closest Ive had was a Tamron 24-70 F2.8, but again it rarely got used as I prefer wider angles, the 16-35 is my most used lens, I've even thought about the GM but the extra weight puts me off, I love the compact nature of the 16-35 f4 and with the A7Rii/Riii Ive got lots of MP's to crop if needed

I think, for me and what I shoot, the CV21 3.5E, CV40 1.2E and FE85/1.8 will be a nicely spaced set up. I'm yet to actually order the 21mm but it's in stock with next day delivery..... ![]() I've considered this combo, and may pick it up down the line, already have 2/3 pieces, what's one more mystik610 wrote in post #18768813 My gas has been in check since I picked up the a7riii No big deficiencies in gear leaving me wanting more and I've actually paired my kit down quite a bit. I dont feel the same with GAS, as I did before, I just buy stuff Sony A7siii/A7iv/ZV-1 - FE 24/1.4 - SY 24/2.8 - FE 35/2.8 - FE 50/1.8 - FE 85/1.8 - F 600/5.6 - CZ 100-300 - Tamron 17-28/2.8 - 28-75/2.8 - 28-200 RXD

On a related note, I'm ok with 21, 35, 50, dont necessarily need 85 (mainly due to size issues). If it's small, it's a consideration. CV 40 is definitely small for what it is. With 2 small kids again, not sure it's the best idea. I do Ok with the CV 21 and MF, but 40 1.2 is a different story I mainly use the 85mm for car stuff rather then portraits

Dec 11, 2018 15:52 | #22917 Last of my Canon gear just got dropped off at the camera shop. I ended up walking out with a A7III, 50mm f/1.8, and have a GM100-400 ordered... should be in next week. The A7III will make an excellent 2nd body to my A9 and I can't wait to get the GM100-400 mounted! I need two more lenses to complete my kit, the GM24-70 and GM-70-200... may add a wide lens later but I'm content for now! AP Images Sports Photographer

I have been following this thread since it was created and finally decided to make an account and start posting. As a long time Canon shooter, I have to say the switch to Sony has been amazing. My only native mount lens at the moment is the 50 Art, but I am having a blast with this combo. I appreciate all the discussion and image posting that goes on in here, and I hope to contribute to that.

The 12-24 actually surprised quite a bit in terms of overall sharpness, I compared it to the VC12 and in the corners it's definately sharper, flare can be a problem depending on the position of the sun, I've had some nasty ring flare under some conditions but it's pretty rare. Overall it's a fantastic ultra wide lens that brings some strenghts particularly in the IQ department but also carries some weaknesses from a useability perspective. Use of filters is difficult or clunky at best so I never use filter on it, I much rather prefer to use the 16-35 GM for that it's also not a particularly small lens when you compare it to some of the VC ultra wides. Particularly with adapted lenses, but in the speed of the camera and the controls as well. Aside from the absolute beating I took on the sale of the R2, I have no regrets. Yeah I agree with you, I held off from upgrading from the A7R2 but after using it over the last month it really does feel like a different camera, well worth the upgrade for me. Sony A1, A7R2
