No more interest in drones David.
Take this last trip 99% of our target areas were either Nat. Parks, Nat. Mon's, wildlife refuges, etc. Can't drone in any of those places.
The few places I could and thought about it, the wind was way too much.
Just too many restrictions for me anymore.

Valuable input. Yep, that’s a huge downer. I’ve read that my nearest city, Columbus, GA, is a no-fly zone too (because of Ft Benning?). Also they’re banned from all the Georgia State Parks that I’ve visited. And the restrictions just keep coming.

I think I’d be OK with a drone at my local COE lake and it could give me some fresh viewpoints in my quest to find new images there, but overall the restrictions definitely curb my enthusiasm when it comes to drones.

If anyone is considering a Loxia 21 apparently B&H is sending out codes to select users with huge discounts applied , final price $874, there is a discussion on Fred Miranda's site right now about this and how to obtain the required code.

Yes I got this email with special promo code. I thought everyone who subscribed to B&H received this code? If not and if anyone is interested in buying a brand new Loxia 21 for $874, let me know. I already own this lens and I have no use for this promo code. Dang, $874 for a brand new L21 is a super steal imho... I bought my second hand copy for like $1000 (which was still a good deal back then...).

It’s a Sony sensor inside, so that should allow me to point in this thread.

The lenses are pretty substantial, but not heavy. Waiting for the charge to finish and going out to dinner right now.

Current Gear: Sony RX1RII

Nothing wrong with the Z series or the Canon EOS-R, or any other system. I have always been a fan of shooting what works for YOU. I have shot Pentax, Canon, Nikon, Fuji, and now Sony. I have made just as many amazing photos with each system as the last. Let us know how it goes!

Been hiding out my outlaw self in the fake Ol’ West in Red Dead Redemption 2 (among other virtual worlds). :-P

Yeah, I don’t know why you’d want to keep the Loxia if you’re really enjoying that GM. Just looks like an absolute grand slam of a lens from Sony imo.

For my part the only lens I’d swap my Loxias for is a 16-35 GM...and I might just do it too. 16-35’s are just unbeatably practical for landscaping. Heck, I’ve even thought about switching off to just a 16-35 GM and a 100-400 GM...could do just about anything I want with a simple 2 lens setup like that.

The other lens/camera thing wildcard option is sticking with what I got, but adding a Mavic 2. Been wanting a drone a long long long time and and the Mavic 2 seems like it checks off all the items I’ve been wishing for in a drone. I’m carefully watching this space to see how Alfredo and Eddie (you get one too?) get on with theirs.

May I know your youtube/twitch to watch your live streams? :P

nice!! i had hopes for nikon. but until the body is smaller and lighter I will not be seduced hehe. the qxd is awesome though. I would have wanted it for the a7r3.

I'll be looking into the a7s3. if it's appealing I will just have to get it.

Their upcoming E-M1X with built in grip like the 1DXII is rumored to have a 7.5 EV IBIS and allow for handheld pixel shift along with shooting 18FPS. Crazy tech

True. They seem to have accepted the fact that they’ll always be a step behind FF in terms of high ISO, so they make up for it in just cramming in as much tech as possible and leveraging the faster readout of the smaller sensor. High ISO isn’t terrible since it’s pretty much on par with the 7D2... but it’s not comparable to FF, especially Sony.

I love my E-M1.2 and it’s really cool to have tools like Pro Capture, Live Composite, built in intervalometer, customizable self timer modes, hi-res shot, focus stacking modes, up to 60 fps (S-AF), etc. Add in the top notch weather sealing and the small fast glass and it’s great for travel. Ergos and build quality of the EM1.2 and PRO lenses is great too. It’s such a fun camera to shoot.

I always found the Sony to be very nice and compact and while I don’t have large hands (wear a S-M glove), I had issues with my pinky falling off the bottom, I would imagine those with meaty hands would find it worse. I made it better buy using a RRS base plate. With the Z6, my hand fits it like a glove. All the buttons are in the right spot for me, including the joystick and the custom buttons. I’ll miss the incredible AF-C, Eye AF, and the dual card slots the most.

The lenses themselves are all the same size, with 62mm filters for the primes and 72mm for the zoom. The 50 is fatter than the Sony 55mm Zeiss and larger and only slightly heavier. I’d imagine when the 50mm f1.2 comes out next year it’ll be bigger than the Zeiss 50mm 1.4 by far.

Picked up a good dual battery charger, slightly expensive, but better build than the old Watson dual charger I used to have.

i hope by the time i'll stop accepting paid gigs the olys high ISO performance improves.

olys don't only have the greatest IBIS, it's also a legit travel camera for its superb weathersealing.

that is just nuts...I am no where near that brave, even if I know it will be ok!

The restrictions on where they can...and more where they can't be used, is why I don't own one...I have so much wrapped up in my gear, and get so focused on that when I am out shooting...I would have to ignore all that to do drone work...and I just don't have the desire...now...I want one for work...that would be nice...

This is why I probably wouldn't like the A9. Way too many keepers to choose from. That, and I tend to be a pack-rat and hate to throw anything away...my hard drives would fill up pretty fast.
