My (almost) 11 year old boy. He shaved 6 seconds off his 50 yard butterfly today. That's a lot!

Nothing like trying to shoot action sports at 1.4 under the abysmal light in an aquatic center. Keeper rate wasn't that good given the very shallow Dof and trying to track this guy as he swims right at me. You kinda have to lead the swimmer and guess where he's gonna pop up! Fun trying!

f/1.4, 1/1250, ISO1600 seemed to be the best I could do under these lighting conditions. All shots cropped somewhat but not too crazy.

I've seen your son since the 60D thread. Look how he's grown up and competing now.

Haha! No kidding! That seems like a while ago!

Thanks!

They write the Event/Heat/Lane of each of their races somewhere on their arm or leg. Of course the younger kids get a little carried away now and then and end up all graffitied up! :p

Kinda reminds me of the old Miramax logo. But then again logos can all look alike.

I'm a former graphic designer.

I remembered when we had to design a logo, we present more than 20 logos and there's 3 of us designing. it was more than 10years ago. now my brain isn't cutting anymore. lol

Sorry Vinz, I meant no disrespect. I like your new version with the M.

that is the real challenge...finding something that does not look too much like something else...its not easy.

1 odd issue that has started on the A7R2...every time I turn it on, it is in MF...it never used to do that, but now, each and every time I turn it on, I have to turn AF back on.

I edited an image tonight that is good at web sizes, but won't be good for a print...because the camera defaulted to the widest aperture after changing lenses, and in the hustle of the shoot, I didn't realize it on the first shot...and only shot I took from that spot at that moment...and its not like the previous lens was being shot wide open, the previous frames were done at f/10...I really wish it didn't do that...I know it does it when switching from the CV12 over, because that is aperture control on the lens barrel...but didn't know it did it when switching from one lens to another also.

From my flight this morning. This was taken after two flights to catch sunrise over the city and what a sunrise it was.

This is from the architecture school near downtown SATX.

Using the 400DOii+Sigma 1.4TC+MC11+a9.
There's a guy named Steve Perry, a big Nikon person.
I owe a thank you. He has a video on his website showing the merits of using a gimbal head + monopod.
Works a charm when you are standing around waiting for action but also need to pick up and move down the
lane a 1/4 mile when the wind changes.
I'd used tilt-heads on monopods but they have a fundamental failure=when you release the tensioning knob the whole
rig can flop. With the gimbal ---the kit is weighless when balanced correctly--- you don't have that problem and can even
more effortlessly follow the bierds than with a tripod where the feet get in my way.
