Thank you Robert! I was lucky there wasn’t much wind.

That last image with all the birds is so cool. It would make a super hard puzzle.

That time they took off right, the previous two times straight over our heads....word of advice, shut your
mouth when they do. Photographer immediately to my left took a big splat right in the center of his forehead :)

Gazebo at Landa Park, New Braunfels

FE 16-35 GM

Note: My TIFF file got corrupted somehow after editing this for an hour. I was able to somehow export a jpeg version but without my usual output sharpening workflow applied.

I use the Vello Wireless Shutterboss.
https://www.bhphotovideo.com …utterboss_iii_remote.html (external link)
It’ll occasionally be one of their “deals of the day” for somewhere around 30-50% off as well. I like it because you can use it wired or wireless with all of the intervalometer functions, and the release part even works without batteries as a basic wired release. That’s great if you’re like me and you always tend to have batteries die on you in the middle of nowhere.

If you have multiple cameras of different brands (or change a lot) all you have to do is swap the cable for one compatible with your camera and you’re good to go. I’ve used the same release for Canon, Olympus, and now Sony... just had to buy a cheap cable to make it work.

B&H has a 2-day “deal of the day” sale going on that’s supposed to include all of their deals from the past year. Among the deals are the 50% off Vello Wireless Shutterboss I had mentioned in a previous post.

San Antonio skyline. I captured the clouds using the SR app. This is 4 different images blended to balance tones and for light trails. I may crop this to 16x9 but I'll present the original size here.

Loose 14 pounds and keep it off for once. Take more photos

Edit - happy new year everyone

I just done a search to see what I said my New Years resolution was at the start of this year. Disappointed when I saw it as it’s the same as this years plan! My weight stayed the same and I didn’t shoot enough! -?

This scares the **** out of me.

It should but it shouldn't. Recession years are challenging, but markets are cyclical so this is basically normal. The propping up of the financial markets with low interest rates has been pretty damaging in terms the cost of living for the average layperson, so there's some positive to look forward to now that the fed seems to prioritizing the stabilization of the dollar.

dont have the osmo but the latest go pro..

regarding the noise indoors.. yeah.. its there..

but the ease of use that these little devices (compared to our ILC's ) give with a bit higher quality than our phones means we are capturing moments that we often dont bother with just because of "setup time" or effort required to not look shakey ..

20 years later when we look at these family videos with smiles and watery eyes the grain or noise will the last thing on our minds

Yup.

In general when it comes to things I'd like to document for myself, I'm learning to get past technical mental blocks that discourage me from shooting. I can deal with a bit of noise and mushy detail if it means I'd otherwise not be shooting/filming. Very cool that I can have stable video in a device that fits in my pocket, and takes 5 seconds to boot-up and start shooting.

I still have my gimbal for the a7rIII, but let's be real, having to balance a gimbal is not at all practical for documenting the family. I can, however, still use the a7rIII for video that I can stabilize by hand. I think the Osmo Pocket and an ILC video cam compliment each others weaknesses well. Just need to make more of an effort to shoot video on the a7rIII when the situation calls for it.
