It's not often i get the opportunity to go solo in the evening. I was fortunate enough to let my family /kids roam around and go shopping with Mom :)

Fuji and Canon stayed home as I wanted to lug my A7iii this evening.

"My City" :) I do find street/cityscape photography comforting.

My GM 16-35 is stuck at Sony Canada with a circuit board issue .....ARGHHHHH!!!! I simply used my adapted Canon glass 16-35 f/2.8mk2, 85Lmk2 and E mount Sigma 24mm f/1.4 ART.

We spend more time dealing with architects, structural engineers & clients over jobs than we do actually completing the fabrication......   It's crazy sometimes....!!

Should you have more snow in those mountains by now? We're lagging a bit here SW Idaho.

Cactus Club is the home of the Feenie Burger....designed by Iron Chef Canada's Rob Feenie.

This is not food photography...it's my snapshot before I inhaled it :P

Low candle light using my A7iii with Sigma 24mm ART.

Putting this into perspective this $18 CDN dollar burger is absolutely amazing. The trip to Universal Studios in October I purchased 3 in Springfield @ Krusty burger for the same price (approx 3 x 18 CDN each = 54 for my kids). Krusty burger tasted like someone made it with saw dust and nuclear waste LOL!!!!

We've had maybe 5 days of frost in Vancouver so far!! Strangest winter season but we still have January and February to deal with. One of the mildest winters we've had in years :)

I have the same problem with A7III (A9/A7rIII have same grip), the D750 that I had previously could be held on one finger like that. A7III cannot be held like that even on three fingers - an opposing thumb is necessary.
It is all about the grip shape.

The fingers just slide off from A7III grip in this position. So I have to have thumb in opposing position and tensioned fingers 100% of the time which leads to fatigue.

I don't have any problem with height of the grip as I use Meike MK-X1EM grip extender all the time.

I have held Z7 recently. The grip was better then A7III, but I did not like how I need to change holding position to use front wheel. The Z7/Z6 is first version, it is unrefined in many ways (AF system usability as well). I guess Sony will improve grip next time they will redesign it (not sure if A7IV or A7V) but they will have to move grip farther from mount (some people that use fatter lenses have problems fitting fingers between grip and lens, no problem for me with my current lenses).

I have some tips from my D750 to A7III transition here (it even includes this complaint about grip shape, however it was not updated for quite some time so it misses fixes from 2.0 firmware like brk combined with uncompressed raws and silent mode that now works well): http://jtra.cz …750-to-sony-a7iii/en.html (external link)

My wife and I loved Vancouver! We stayed in the hotel at that pier for a few days before our Alaska cruise. Such a beautiful city.

Excuse the non-Sony images-

Architecture as a career has changed immensely in my 20 years...I feel like we still direct our projects and are the lead problem solver and thinkers...but as a whole...the industry is wildly different now...everyone sets up for the law suit from day 1...and just about everyone involved is faultless...except us...we get blamed for any and everything.

Im equally mean ;-)a, civil, MPE, and contractors get all my wrath. Contractors probably the worst.

Not overly keen on this one. But I think it was one of the first shots with the CV21

I felt the same way out of the box, I was like “what madness is this to use the front wheel” and it physically hurt my hand. Was recommended to change it to a press to activate rather than press and hold and that changed things.

Doing some more testing today and I’m leaning towards the a7iii. Just keeps things simple for me, just leave it AF-C wide, hit Eye af for the kids or the center button for a quick AF-S. Asked my 5 year old to run to me and zig zag and it worked well. Wide worked the majority of the time. The Z6 works well if I use Dynamic AF which is like the Expanded Flexible Spot on the Sony.

I know with proper technique, dedication to set all the AF settings for each shot, and proper placement of the AF box I would get great results from the Z6 but having to toggle between so many different modes and dials as opposed to just hitting Eye AF. Plus try telling your 3 year old to sit still whille you scroll your AF joystick to move the AF box over her eye.

I’m hoping Sony fixes their video recording file naming with their next generation. I can’t think of any other company that separates their video files into a sub folder and resets the file name with each format. Every other company that I can think of just uses the next file name but has the extension for the .MOV or the .MP4. First time I couldn’t find where the files where and second time I overwrote the previous files.

It's sort of ridiculous with the file naming. I currently have the lamest workflow of either drag and drop into a manually created folder, working projects directly from card, or sending to tablet/phone.

In a perfect world, I would have the highest spec iMac with final cut (let the software manage the files), MacBook had no meaningful space. A dual hard drive MacBook would work too, but I don't think it exists.

There's nothing like grilling bacon on the patio on a rainy day to attract the hummingbirds.

You can see how poorly my bushes look after the summer heat this year. Hopefully, they will make a comeback next spring. You can also see the issue I have shooting on my patio with the green cast caused by the patio carpeting...and the green rocks.

This male Annas certainly looked interested.
