in case you didnt catch the news on FM, the Tamron 28-75 just increased in price!

https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1578346 (external link)

I think it's the first time I've seen them pull a voigtlander move.

I don’t think it’s a real price increase like when the RX1RII went from $3,299 up to $3,799, but just a reseller trying to take advantage of the supply.

I got one back a month or so ago. It's extremely sharp. I would put it right there with some primes.

I've always been a prime person but this lens made me rethink everything. It's quality is absolutely amazing!

So much so that I'm considering taking my 20L Mindshift backpack instead of my bigger Fstop one. Just need to work out my kit for the trip.

Probably something like this:

FE 16-35 GM
Loxia 21
FE 55
FE 100-400 or 70-200 f4

I don't think I'll bring my Voigtlander 12mm, Zeisss 35 ZE, or Loxia 85 on this trip. The Batis 18 still needs to be sent it in for repair.

Do the 100-400...I will have my 70-200.
And
CV12
B18
B25
16-35GM
85GM
24TSE
45TSE

I will have my 36L pack...

Nice kit. I didn't know you had both 24 and 45 TSE lenses.

Just keep in mind that it’s been said that the color is slightly different from the a7riii and the a7iii. How true this is, I’m not sure since I never shot with the riii. Might be worth getting two of the same bodies.

I figure they will be closer than using a Sony and Nikon together.

Nikon stepping up its game:

14-30mm f4, that's a pretty nice range, 82mm filter, under 500g, priced at 1299, pretty darn tasty looking specs.

I love how the Nikon shooters are suddenly going nuts about it having Eye AF. First they say Eye AF is not necessary and that a good shooter uses the single point box to move to the eye and now they say it’ll be industry leading.

All I’m saying is that many camera companies boast about Eye AF or auto left/right/auto of the eye. Olympus’ is pretty poor, Fuji’s was all over the place, the EOS R only works in single shot, etc. Even the Mark II Sony bodies was better than nothing but it wasn’t until the a9/Mark III bodies did they get really good.

It looks like there's some parallax distortion in the first photo, but not in the second. Why is that? Do you think the converging lines add or detract from the first photo?

14-30 is a much more usable focal range than 12-24.

Really nice lens esp for the price.
