If we’re doing recommendations, I can highly recommend Salcombe and also Martin Miller. I don’t know how readily available they are globally, but with the gin revival that’s currently going on there are some fantastic guns coming out. (And all thanks to a 300 year old levy being repealed)

I haven’t heard of either but I’ll keep an eye out. Currently doing dry January though

The only spirit I drink is gin but I oddly don’t like Hendricks when it has cucumber. I much prefer it without. Hendricks and number 10 are about the same price (more expensive than Bombay sapphire). We have lots of Scottish gins too many of which are nice

It’s all about personal taste, I quite like orange peel in No 10. I agree about the quality of the Scottish gins. My wife is a member of the Gin Club, which results in us getting a different bottle of gin each month. Over Christmas we also tried I pomegranate and rose gin from Edinburgh Gin which was delightful

Since Sipsmiths challenged the Gin Act (1751) in parliament there has been a huge resurgence in Craft Gins in the UK. Brands like Tanquarey and Hendricks are the norm, we now have gins of many flavours and even gin liquors in the UK.

Nice shot.. I do real estate photography as well (part time). Love the look of this shot.. can you tell me more about Raya Pro? Do you normally bring a light setup with you to your shoots?

Good overview of the focusing system enhancements in the a6400 and MKIII bodies/a9 via firmware. First time I really understood what Sony implemented, but they drastically improved the object detection and tracking systems in these AF systems. The eye-AF improvements are pretty huge for event/wedding/family photography.

Pretty significant upgrade IMO....these are the type of improvements you typically see between camera generations. Good on Sony for bringing these to existing cameras. This also means that the MKIII bodies which are now yet another generation ahead of the Nikon Z and EOS R.

Edit: the a6400 actually looks like a better wedding/event/family camera than the a6500 does. Leads me to believe that there's no way that an a7000 isn't coming

I realize everyone has a different technique in photography. For example with my Canon's I tend to use AF-S and utilize the red focus assist for indoor bounced flash photography.

With Sony I've use AF-C and use eye focus when warranted. I also use AF lock if I have to do a form of "focus/recompose".

Lately I've been testing the Godox X1TS trigger on my A7iii. I've taken a photo of objects in the evening in pitch dark environment (literally 100% no vision possible.) Using the Godox trigger I can lock on virtually anything in the room with my V860mk2 mounted on the hotshoe of the godox trigger.

Now I'm needing to do more experimentation because now this starts to get into the realm I'm use too with my Canon setup. However what I find is that Sony's AF-S is not very accurate or I miss alot more photos compared to using Sony in AF-C mode.

In my Canon world I land almost every photo with extremely high capture rate using AF-S with bounced flash in low light.

I wonder how many events photographers are starting to utilize the Godox trigger's red focus assist.

Raya Pro is an add-on Panels for photoshop that will help you blend multiple exposures using luminosity mask. kinda like HDR but manually.

I'm not using Raya anymore. Now I'm using light combine with an ambient shot blending manually in PS.

So, you are now layering in your photos with separate exposures?

yes. 1 to 3 flash and 1 ambient. Normally 1 flash only but if there's an adjacent room like a kitchen that i want to illuminate, i will pop another flash there. I control the camera using my ipad with cascable app.

Yeah af-s focus and recompose is sort of an antiquated technique that was utilized to accommodate an inherent weakness of DSLR focusing systems: the limited spread of AF points don't align with subjects that are framed according to the rule of thirds.

With Sony you have an AF system that is critically accurate when tracking, and able to track across the entire frame. So AF-C is the way to go.

I'll have give the godox AF light a try. Does it work is af-c or af-s only? IIRC with DSLR, focusing assist works in AF-S only.
