Good overview of the focusing system enhancements in the a6400 and MKIII bodies/a9 via firmware. First time I really understood what Sony implemented, but they drastically improved the object detection and tracking systems in these AF systems. The eye-AF improvements are pretty huge for event/wedding/family photography.

Pretty significant upgrade IMO....these are the type of improvements you typically see between camera generations. Good on Sony for bringing these to existing cameras. This also means that the MKIII bodies which are now yet another generation ahead of the Nikon Z and EOS R.

Edit: the a6400 actually looks like a better wedding/event/family camera than the a6500 does. Leads me to believe that there's no way that an a7000 isn't coming

Good video. Eye af looks to be well improved so looking forward to that coming to the a7riii. How good does real time tracking look though!! Wish that was coming to the a7riii!

Yeah I think so. £1429 is a great price for the amount of camera you are getting

Converted to usd, that's the MSRP on the a7iii in the US. You guys really do get screwed by sony pricing there

Took a family trip to the museum. Snuck away from them for a bit and exercised my patience while waiting for a gap in the foot traffic on these stairs -

I'm glad the tracking is improved. Honestly, It's pretty limited in the a6500. I abandoned it real quick after trying to track a skier with trees behind them. It kept getting confused and picking the wrong things to focus on. I've not used any of the tracking functions since.

I do look forward to what an a7000 might be. I like my lenses. I'd really like to see it remain pretty compact but with a front dial for the index finger and a joystick.

Another one from last night.
This time we had four flashes behind the splash zone separated by a piece of acrylic+diffuser.
Gene it took almost two hours of tweaking before we achieved collision. The night before we used plain
water and got collsions in 20 min's. This time we used guar gum. We've use the gum in the past but it never
took that long to get dialed in.

My girlfriend and I stayed in an Airbnb in the Finger Lakes this weekend. We had a lot of fun taking these even in the punishing cold!

This shot looks awesome and I wish I had the room for a setup like you have...and the patience to set up everything from scratch each time I want to try this and then spend the time it takes dialing in the timing. Somehow, it doesn't seem to matter whether I increase or decrease a time delay, the drops get more 'out of whack' instead of aligning with the flash as they should.
