Yeah af-s focus and recompose is sort of an antiquated technique that was utilized to accommodate an inherent weakness of DSLR focusing systems: the limited spread of AF points don't align with subjects that are framed according to the rule of thirds.

With Sony you have an AF system that is critically accurate when tracking, and able to track across the entire frame. So AF-C is the way to go.

I'll have give the godox AF light a try. Does it work is af-c or af-s only? IIRC with DSLR, focusing assist works in AF-S only.

The godox trigger will only emit a red focus beam in AF-S mode.

Over the years I've used "focus / recompose" since I can do that much faster than navigating a joystick. This is where with my mirrrored bodies I've had almost bullet proof success in never missing a shot during an event. This is because I have instant recompose and red focus assist gave me rock solid AF in extremely horrible light conditions.

With Sony I have to use AF lock in AF-C giving me versatility. If I use Sony's AF-S with the godox triggers red focus assist it'll be fine for static subject.

I still must experiment....

Took a family trip to the museum. Snuck away from them for a bit and exercised my patience while waiting for a gap in the foot traffic on these stairs -

Awesome capture. The lines are dynamic, the lighting - especially the way it falls on the curved concrete wall is wonderful. Excellent image.

My attempt at photographing the Lunar eclipse tonight. I thought it was going to be too cloudy so I hadn't planned on even trying to get a shot. The skies were good to me though.

slightly off topic;

I met a business mentor online. He's been doing the real estate photo/video business for more than 20 years and business-wise very successful. he and his team are not the best real estate photographers but he's good in business.

He advised me to rebrand everything and avoid using my name or "me" in all my copyright.

Now i make everything the same... my instagram, facebook and linkedin are the same.

here's my new instagram
https://www.instagram.com/propertymultimedia/ (external link)

my facebook bz page
https://www.facebook.com/PropertyMultimedia/ (external link)

my website under construction. it will be all RE stuff
www.propertymultimedia.com (external link)

i designed a new logo. what do you think? i made it more simple and black only. i swear to God i designed it first and i googled real-estate photography logo and i found some that's similar. that's the hard part in designing a logo. every idea are out already.

I don’t recall ever seeing a more beautiful moonshot. Color, composition, focal length choice: all just superb.

Thanks very much David. It was a spur of the moment attempt when I decided to look up when the eclipse took place and found that it was ongoing at that time. So, I drug my gear out to the edge of the carport and there it was, beckoning me.
