Least you know now & won't have to think about trying it again...... Hope you don't lose anything on it!

Should be fine, got it for a decent price when comparing other completed listings so hopefully sell it for same money and only lose out on return postage and 3% PayPal fees. I’ll take that hit to put my curiosity to bed

The FE 35 1.4 arrived and I instantly dislike it. Too large and makes the whole camera feel front heavy! Not even taken many images with it yet but I can tell it’s not for me. I’m going to sell on straight away. Luckily got an eBay deal for £1 max final value fees so at least I won’t lose 10% of the sale to them

I feel the same with my samyang 35 f1.4.

I loaned it out to an inlaw since november, will probably get it back next month. I did get my tamron back early, missed having it around, takes great photos not nearly as offensive, macro like ability is pretty darn nifty. I'm content having it around, just dont use it a whole lot. IQ is wonderful.

That’s interesting! I never googled the weights but was convinced the Zeiss was heavier. Just shows how used to the lighter lenses I have got. I’ve been playing about with this lens more since earlier and it really does produce nice images. Nice smooth transition to the out of focus areas.

Actually I just googled it, and they're about the same. I had them both simultaneously at one point. Sigma probably feels heavier because it doesnt balance well with adapter

I think of it like a cheap rental lens and I get to “rent” the lens for as long as I like until I’m good and ready to sell it.

Its about the same size with the adapter. Sigma is a lot heavier though.

Ah, thanks. I don't use mine often and when I do, it's usually not carried far. Here's an example from this lens from a visit to the nearby RR Museum on a day with Civil War Reenactors.

Bonus of buying used ;)

My FE35/2.8 I paid about £350 for years ago & just got a quick sale for £335
My B85 I bought for £750 & sold 18 months later for £710
My Leitz Tele-ElmaritM 90/2.8 I bought for about £340 & sold for around £430 iirc!!
I also made a good profit on my Canon 100/2.8 macro years ago (+£150!!) Also profit on my Canon FD28 & the FD85 :-)

Yeah its a lot cheaper than renting and you can keep it for several months vs a week or two. Hell you can break even most of the time if you buy at the right price.

Same reason that outside of bodies, I don't buy anything at MSRP anymore.

Amazon warehouse deals and used stuff on B&H sell for close to what you'd sell something used on FM.

Another great option: Sony Pro services evaluation loaners...though new stuff is never in stock (I struck out on the 24 GM)

What adapter are you using with the Siggy 35. MC-11? If so, have you noticed an improvement with the newer firmware updates.

I gave it a go about 2 years back and the AF was good, but not great. But my Sigma 135 got massively better after a couple firmware updates and was basically a native lens. I'm wondering if the rest of the MC-11 supported lenses improved similarly.

I have the Metabones IV. It's been a while since I've used the lens so I don't recall which firmware version it has. I know I stopped at some point so it doesn't have the latest. I've never had any issue with AF with this lens and the Metabones IV but I did when I had the MB III.

I'll attach the lens + attachment (which I keep on the lens full time now) and let you know what firmware version it's on.

DOF is forgiving enough that i can peak and get away with it. Catching the brief look at me moment.... I rather the camera do that for me than prediction ;-)a

That's what I loved about the a9 for non sports. Big blanket of burst shots mean you're bound to get that key reaction. Great for events
