Sony Lounge Thread MKIII (All Sony cameras welcome)

So this talk about film cameras.. made me look back thru some notes i took a bit back when researching + a few quick searches past 2 hours.. and i just ordered a camera

Starting small.. Pentax k1000 with 50mm f2 kit lens and kit flash= $95 shipped.. seems in decent shape , ( but i don't really know that as i don't know what bad signs to look for ) and from a seller with lots of transactions and 100% feedback on ebay ..
my research showed almost everyone suggesting that camera as top 5 or 10 film cameras for beginners ..

and now to do some research on film ..

Nice one. Maybe I should get some film for mine as I'm in a bit of a motivational rut photography wise at the moment

now this is strictly my opinion, but I see SLR film cameras as analog DSLR's basically, it's too much of the same.

rangefinders on the other hand, offer a different user experience, and very enjoyable when I tried it. Of course leica is too expensive, however, you can get something cheaper to get the feel for how rangefinders behave.

it's a leica video, but the concept is the same




if I had money laying around, a rangefinder would be it, the experience is so different and engaging.

well for film i think i'm going for ilsfor delta 400.. why? you ask?
because i like the way it looks in silver efex (from nik )

seems interesting ,, i especially like that ( assuming this quality of all range finders ) you can see a bit outside the frame.. that could be very useful for street photography .

that's why I would love for someone to build a TTL camera that behaves like a rangefinder. Most image circles go beyond the sensor, and it would be nice if there was as secondary, purely for view sensor to capture the peripheral view. Of course I'm just daydreaming, dont see it happening. On a related note, I should take a family photo before I go to FL, my full travel kit. Gotta wait till my wife runs her errands

just some window light ..

i want to retake this and light it properly , and change some things for the sake of consistency..

that blue camera in the back ,, toy , but a camera .. takes SD cards , works takes pics and all but i cant get the files to be read when in computer.
when i found it i thought it would be fun to see what i could do with it but , maybe i'll figure it out some day

after this past weekend...those EFS lenses make me mad...no focus scale, no hard stop...I am sure they are good lenses...but goodness they need some basic features!

lol.. Meh!..when i started selling off my canon lenses i never sold them off because they are refurbs , and i cut the backs to make them fit a metabones speedbooster during my brief relationship with m4/3.
but in a way i'm glad i kept them and didn't try and sell them even if just for a couple of bucks( i was tempted) since i got the 80d they work good enough for certain more casual things .

I've kept my Canon Canonet QL-17 rangefinder. In its day it was the poor man's Leica. I need to get some film and a replacement battery.

They're frequently on eBay for $100-$150.

It's also one of the reasons I enjoy the Fuji X-100. Rangefinders can be a lot of fun.

My gear for FL trip, forgot to include the flash, trigger, tripod and all the bags, they take up quite a bit of space as well. That said, I had to pay for 6 seats (I own an entire row ) and can technically bring a ton of luggage

Julieanna Kost explains guided Upright in Adobe Camera Raw. Of course, you can also use this on a jpg using it within the camera raw filter in PSCC 2017.

She demonstrates how to use the guide lines for both vertical and horizontal corrections as well as how to zoom in and out of the image and more.

Thanks for sharing this. I tried the technique on an image in the last post and it did a lot to help with the distortion. This is something I was always lazy about since I haven't shot much architecture.

By the way, if you paid for 6 seats, doesn't that mean you have 5 sherpa's to help you carry all that gear?
