Nice!

By the way, if you paid for 6 seats, doesn't that mean you have 5 sherpa's to help you carry all that gear? :p

I had to pay for the baby, she cant carry any gear ;-)a

we're bringing 5 ipads and a laptop, I wonder if I can hold them all for TSA checkin? will find out tomorrow.

Damit I ordered the 100-400 although I hear there will be a lot of back orders so probably in that group.

IF i get in and it ships this week .... the Tamron 150-600v1 in A mount, FE 70-300 are up for grabs if anyone is interested. Still trying to figure out if I get rid of the 55 1.8 or the 90 macro

There are new TSA rules requiring that all electronics larger than a cell phone be in a bin by itself (not in a bag). I'm wondering how this applies to camera equipment. I'd be ok pulling my camera out, but having to unpack a bunch of lenses would suck!

my entire carry on will be all electronics :-P

I figure it'll be faster if each person doesnt have to get out their own ipads, so I'll hold them all since we have a bit of luggage. That way, everyone else travels smoothly. All my gear is in my belt, I can pull that out, no issues ;-)a

I suspect the rule has to do with batteries, but I'll see tomorrow. When the kids were younger, there was no such gadgetry, but since it's a school requirement nowadays, they might as well bring it for fun.

Eriet I was shooting 70-300G this afternoon and wondering to myself about the impending 100-400 arrival.
Here's the facts staring me in the face.
100-400 1395 grams
70-300 854 grams
Over a pound difference!
Me thinking sometimes I'll want to go light and so far the 70-300G's IQ is good enough
for me, so I think it will linger a while.
Despite my EOS divestment there is still the 70-300L Poof uses on her M5 and I've yet to
try it adapted on the a9. .... which reminds, there is also a 400/5.6 I use on my M5 I've not
played with either.

Another case of camera gear robbery+murder at Twin Peaks, San Francisco. This time a 71-year old photographer.

that's it my RII will be for paid gigs locally only. For family trips will be my LX100

and this one is another at Oakland.

Stories like this give me concern about carrying my a9 and bag of lenses around. I know it might be unfair but I hear a lot of stories about the SF area that make me not want to visit it, of course a bad experience can happen anywhere. And it could be with an a9 or a Canon Powershot, but still...

Looks like we have an answer.

On a side note, my single 35mm camera with the Fuji X100F to a weekend getaway mostly went well. There were times when I wanted wider and a few more when I want longer but overall went well. Theres something about that Acros B&W film simulation that just does It for me. hat being said I went ahead and ordered a Fuji X-T2 with grip, 18-55, and 50 f/2 to give it a whirl and compare against my a9 with single 85, lol. After this week of testing I think I'll be able to decide which system to invest in.

I wonder what the treatment of lenses will be like.....technically these aren't electronics since they're mostly glass? I'm cool with pulling my camera out, but imaging having to put every single lens you pack onto a separate bin. That would suck!

And things disappear in the TSA lines, google thieving TSA employees. The number of bins increases the chances for mishap increases....

Oh yeah totally...and as you're randomly selected to get body scanned, a bottle neck of bins starts to pile up and people start moving your crap around so the risk of stuff falling and breaking is there too. The obvious solution is to simply pack less gear when you travel...but chances are that when you travel, you want to photograph it so these are times when I want to bring a bag of gear.

I enrolled in the TSA Pre-check program about 6 months after it came out. I think it was $80 and is good for 5 years. I don't travel as much as I used to, but it's still nice not to have to pull computers out of bags, take the shoes off, etc.

FYI - Your Pre-check also covers your kids 12 and under.

I just looked it up and I'de have to visit an enrollment center? I do plan to travel more, but my oldest is 12 already and the younger ones catching up. However, If I can get through it with all the junk I've got, then it might be worth it. I gotta see if possible to do it today.
