My latest lens acquisition ideas/goals:

CV 10mm, 15mm, 21mm, 40mm, 65mm, and 110mm

24GM, 50ZA, 135GM


This scheme contemplates selling my Loxia 21 and 35 in favor of an all-CV kit. They perform similarly to the Loxias, but I vastly prefer the handling and design of the CV lenses. Also, having both CV and Loxias gets confusing as the focus ring and aperture rings are reversed.

I want the CV 10 again because I love how crazy wide it is. I need the CV 15 as a more generally usable ultra-wide angle. Do I really really need the 10mm and 12mm and 15mm? Yes Yes Yes: for 100% ridiculously emotional reasons. Seriously though, I’d use them all.

Haha! When I read the top part of your post I though to myself...."Is David really going to use all those lenses"....and then I read the rest of your post! Love it!

I’m tempted to add more cv glass myself David. Probably the 12 on the wide end and was initially thinking the 65 on the other. However I wondered if 65 was too close to 40 and the lox 85 might be better. That would give me cv12, cv15, lox21, cv40, lox85. Af kit would be 24GM, rx1rii and Batis 85 (still need to swap out my Batis for the 24GM). This is all long term planning though as I’m in no rush to do any of that

Good point that 85 is a better gap than 65mm. And the Loxia is clearly an amazing lens. My main priorities are adding the ultra-wides and the fast primes, so it’s going to be a while before I address the 21, 40, 65, 110 focal lengths...plenty of time to change my mind.

I mostly wrote that post as a means of thinking-out-loud. Basically I want two distinct sets of lenses: 1. a fast AF trio of lenses that serve as a prime version of a walk-around 24-105mm, and a 2. superb set of MF lenses for landscapes and cityscapes.

An AF trio of 24, 50, and 135 gets me really excited!

Did you sell the Batis 135 David?

I'm interested in seeing how the 135GM turns out....but having owned the Sigma, I think 135 is a bit redundant next to an 85.

I don't have my hopes up on small/light, but I do hope Sony makes it an f/2. The old Canon had plenty awesome bokeh for f/2. But, I think the trend is for bigger f/1.8s.

I did last summer/fall. I think it is an outstanding lens and I'm not altogether happy that I sold it. Now that I've added the 50mm I may sell the 85mm and repurchase the 135, but I'll wait to see just how huge the 135GM turns out to be. My ideal AF prime trio is 24, 50, and 100, but I don't see Sony giving us a 100mm f/2 anytime soon, though that could be a possible Batis lens.

Lens-ownership fantasies aside, since I already own the 12mm the 10mm isn't too likely for me to buy. 15mm is way more addition. I have mulled over the notion of selling the CV 12 and having the 10mm and 15mm (better spacing), so there's something think on there.

ACK I would so have that shot all screwed up but yes.

I want to go back to that spot (right on the AZ UT border about 15 min from Page AZ and Lake Powell. But now I can put the BOMBO filter on the 10 and use ND grads etc..... Still need a CPL though

I have updated LR, but this new feature does not work without the new WIndows 1809 build...and mine won't update to that for some reason, likely a compatibility issue...so no dice for me.

great image, one I need to remember to do more of...our little dog nearly died last month...and now she is off at my MIL house while we renovate our house...and we miss her a lot...might have to go pay her a visit...

So yesterday I started looking at that B&H deal for the sigma 35 1.4 art which was only like 749 bucks.... Then today I am rethinking my pack.

BUT what I really really am leaning to is keeping the A9 100-400 the cv 10 selling the 7r2 and all other lenses and then doing this!!!!
