Here's a pullback from last night.
Usually I'll get a 'flickr' but last night we were skunked :(
First use of the a5100 too and with a Rokinon 12/2 NEX mount.
Finally added mounts for the flashes up high. Previously I was just
using tape to hold one or two in place.
Maybe you can see the uprights are on tracks that can slide for and aft.
Necessary depending on if we want to illuminate from behind.

Forgot to mention the incandescent flood lights on each side are use when we focus,
move stuff around, empty water/add water, etc. We turn them off when firing.

Anyone interested in the a6400? Whilst I love my rx1rii I have been wondering if I would be better served with an a6400 and say the 24GM on it. I’d give up the megapixels but gain the new af system. My main use of the rx is for shots of the family and my kids so the lack of ibis in both bodies isn’t an issue as I need a decent speed to stop motion blur anyway. I’d also pocket a chunk of money that can be put towards more glass.

Am I being daft?

I think the 24GM in APS-C is a great idea, but why not just shoot in crop mode on your a7R III? It's got plenty of resolution for that. OTOH is the amazing AF of the 6400 the main appeal?

The main reason I have the rx (well main two reasons) is small size and the 35mm lens. Whilst the 24GM in crop gives me almost 35mm fov and 18MP (plenty) it’s just not that small. There’s many many times when I head out and just want the smallest package possible and grab the rx. Whilst the AF is manageable it’s def a rev behind so the 6400 af was appealing to me. The thing that’s putting me off is that a 6400 and 24GM is a lot bigger than the rx.

Also not sure if this is just GAS

Maybe prioritize adding the 24GM - which I think you want/need regardless - and evaluate your body needs with it once the lens is in hand. The 6400 may indeed be a fantastic solution for your needs. Certainly the AF system looks amazing.

Not daft at all. I'm having the same thought process and even rented a sigma 24 f1.4 for the weekend to help me decide how a fast 24 works for family stuff. Shot my daughters birthday with it and whenever it was too wide, I'd drop into crop for a 35 f2 equivalent fov, dof, and light gathering.

More on that later when I have a chance to process these photos. But long story made short....I'm going to get a 24gm, possibly sell the fe 35 2.4, and possibly pick up an a6400

That’s maybe a good way to approach it

Interesting to hear you had similar thoughts on this after having owned the rx1rii.

The other thing that goes through my mind is that even though it’s not a money decision I could sell the rx1rii and buy a 2nd a7riii with the money. I could even add a small amount and add an a9. It’s hard to ignore how much money is tied up in that camera

I think this sounds like a great idea. Better AF and pocket some money. I always loved 35mm Fov (over 50) on FF. My Zony 24 works great as an APS-c alternative. Great walk around combo. Though you might want to scour the internet for reviews of the a6400 and the new AF system . I've heard rumblings that perhaps the system isn't quite as robust on the a6400 as we've seen in the reviews of the A9 and it's firmware update (such as in the vid with the female boxers)....but seriously, I prob have no idea what I'm talking out.

A few days ago some of you were talking about weight loss, eating habbits, etc. I usually try to tone up a bit after the new year. This year I've committed 3 months of no beer. I gets a little boring around here on the weekend!

It's a good one to cut out! Going back pre-divorce.... So, 6 years now.... I was easily getting through 15 pints a week if not more as an average for a little bloke! After that, I cut down a fair bit & the past few years hardly at all. I can't remember the last time I was 'drunk' - not even really at my 40th & that was nearly 3 years ago! I bought a 4 pack a few weeks ago whilst shopping, & there are still two left. I don't miss it one bit. But I do really enjoy the odd one I have :)

I remember that shot Gene! I've always meant to do one similar! I thought this was as good a time as any given my current "beer diet"!

Funny - I was just posting about my calorie counting experiment on another forum (road cycling, where everybody thinks they're too fat). Basically, I've found that if I eat real food in respectable quantities, indulging in a beer per day is no problem (this while maintaining a upwards of 750 cal/day deficit). Hell, I usually have enough room for a cookie, too. :-D Going out to eat can be a minefield, though.

Bill is my name - I'm the most wanted man on my island, except I'm not on my island, of course. More's the pity.
