Funny - I was just posting about my calorie counting experiment on another forum (road cycling, where everybody thinks they're too fat). Basically, I've found that if I eat real food in respectable quantities, indulging in a beer per day is no problem (this while maintaining a upwards of 750 cal/day deficit). Hell, I usually have enough room for a cookie, too. :-D Going out to eat can be a minefield, though.

Yeah I've found the same thing. Counted calories (exercise - food intake) for a couple months last year and dropped 15 lbs. Maintained it until the holidays when I put 5 on. Started counting calories again in Jan and have dropped 8 so far. I keep things really clean during the week, but mentally on the weekend don't count calories for my own sanity (I still try to use common sense most of the time and have my weekend work-outs at home.)

Best part about is that because it's not so extreme, it's something that can be reasonably maintained over the long-run. It mostly involves portion control and making sure I put enough effort in when I exercise. Trying to create enough of a caloric deficit to treat myself later is great motivation in the gym :-)

Anyone interested in the a6400? Whilst I love my rx1rii I have been wondering if I would be better served with an a6400 and say the 24GM on it. I’d give up the megapixels but gain the new af system. My main use of the rx is for shots of the family and my kids so the lack of ibis in both bodies isn’t an issue as I need a decent speed to stop motion blur anyway. I’d also pocket a chunk of money that can be put towards more glass.

Am I being daft?

Pretty logical. I just don't care for that style body.....yet I just added an a5100 which is worse :)
Me, I'm waiting and waiting for the a7000/a9000/minia9/m9/whateverthefraksonycalls it.

A few days ago some of you were talking about weight loss, eating habbits, etc. I usually try to tone up a bit after the new year. This year I've committed 3 months of no beer. I gets a little boring around here on the weekend!

The other thing that goes through my mind is that even though it’s not a money decision I could sell the rx1rii and buy a 2nd a7riii with the money. I could even add a small amount and add an a9. It’s hard to ignore how much money is tied up in that camera

Yeah I'm just trying to rationalize rebuilding my kit, and the rx1rii while great, is hard to rationalize from a $$$ perspective. I'm also avoiding expensive zooms that I'd basically be getting for weddings...I'm renting those from now.

Rx1rII is the king of the size/IQ ratio....but it's still large enough to need a bag of some sort, and realistically, for family photos, world beating IQ isn't really necessary.

24mm on FF is a really interesting FOV for family photos.

It's a good one to cut out! Going back pre-divorce.... So, 6 years now.... I was easily getting through 15 pints a week if not more as an average for a little bloke! After that, I cut down a fair bit & the past few years hardly at all. I can't remember the last time I was 'drunk' - not even really at my 40th & that was nearly 3 years ago! I bought a 4 pack a few weeks ago whilst shopping, & there are still two left. I don't miss it one bit. But I do really enjoy the odd one I have :)

1 bottle/pint of beer=1 loaf of bread! A bit of an exaggeration eh but were' sticking with the gin and/or vodka + lime/lemon and gassy water.

5 days non stop, and I mean non stop rain. Today the rains lulled, enough to get outside for a bit.
Still crap light, and have I mentioned that with the latest MC-11 update the 400DOii is 99 percent
native on the a9 and a7Riii.......that will change sadly when Sony pushes out the updates but Sigma
so far has been on top of the updates and followed through. Can't say that about my metabones :(
and the latest a9 update did not go well with the Commlite which was horrible to discover.

Today's bierd

Keiran was outside with his new telescope having a close look at the moon the other night so I grabbed the A7 & my little cheap tripod (the Red Snapper lives in the car!) & literally just pointed it upwards from the garden. 70odd% moon & light pollution galore but it was more to see what I could get away with regarding shutter speeds & ISO etc

Sony successfully forced me to buy the A7iii only because they don't have MRaw. should be with me tuesday. it looks like better in low light though from the reviews so we'll see.

Yeah I use my Batis a lot for that sort of stuff and find that I can get into the mindset of 24/25 for environmental stuff. The more I think about it the more I’m thinking I should just get the 24GM first like David suggested and see how I get on flipping back and forward to crop mode whilst carrying that as my only lens. Like you say I’m carrying a bag anyway for the rx1rii, the bag wouldn’t be massively bigger for the other option. I also can’t seem to get away from the urge to try an a9 out. The rx1rii would go a long way towards that. Just need to make sure I won’t instantly regret selling it on though!

Definitely. It hasn't been that far removed from how I would normally eat, but the little extra accountability helps curb the desire for certain indulgences.

...that said, when I'm in to riding season, and days where I burn 4,000 - 6,000 calories are more common, I'm not going to be afraid of the occasional reward. :-D

Bill is my name - I'm the most wanted man on my island, except I'm not on my island, of course. More's the pity.

Yeah I was toggling crop mode on and off as needed at my daughters birthday yesterday. It worked well, and like you said earlier, 18mp is plenty.

24 cropped is a bit longer than 35mm at full resolution....probably closer to 40mm. I'll post some sample photos soon.

Edit: Sony really needs a compact FF body that shaves off the EVF hump. That hump is what makes the body still feel big when a small lens is attached.

another money saver idea for me is the laowa 10-18mm and shoot in crop mode.

having a second camera is better though. for events and even as a backup in RE if the other cam is acting up.
