SR5 news, Tamron 17-28 f2.8 incoming

very interesting focal length, and like the 28-75, the range is probably to keep it small and compact. Very very interesting.

I just want to shoot myself... not with the camera.

I forgot that when you get your camera cleaned they set the format back to JPEG ...... I got up at 4 am yesterday drove to Tucson to meet with my friend Frank and shoot Saguaro Nat park. ....... Just a few hundred JPEG shots that are crap. At least I found a good BBQ place and had a good time with Frank but GAH it was stupid day.

The 12-24 was a mainstay on the trip out west. Doubt I'll use it again for some time now. She's got me down for a return to Alaska end of summer
and it is too big to fit in the pack considering my must haves and the limit on weight and space. I plan on stitching 24GM grabs when I need to.

Isn't it interesting how some of us love one lens a lot and vice versa. I was happy to shed the Loxia 21. At least with the 24GM it is easy to remove
from the camera. When I sold it I included the thing from Germany you can add to help with removal....I never applied it knowing I was to sell it.

I do look forward to an 18GM, I didn't like the Batis either.....yet Poof loves the Touit 18.

A while back when you said 12-24mm was your most used lens on that trip it made an impression on me. I might even grab a FE 24-105mm off FM next. I see the two as excellent travel/exploration lenses.

Man enough to admit the event!
Yet I shot a couple weeks ago and also jpg only.
But when I processed I was still pleased.
I think even jpg has Sony mojo.

Yes sir. I used it daily and everywhere. Something about the expansive views out west.
And for what it is, well it is small in comparison. I'm just limited to 20 pounds of kit....and that includes clothes=crazy!
The next most used was the 24-105.
Of course not counting the longer glass for the bierds.

I'm not hungering for any real lens now. I am hungering for the 'unseen' FE200-600mm. Fat chance that'll see daylight
before I can't even lift it.

Poof told me I could have a FE400/2.8 but why? Even the 400DOii is quite heavy now. In fact I just put the Sigma 16/1.4 on the a5100 for an experiment
later tonight as just marveled over the weight!

David you know (maybe) I added a bit of Nikon kit all because of the 500PF. That lens ~for what I shoot~ is as groundbreaking as the a9 is. Both true
bellwethers in photography. That will be the longest FL I ever buy, unless Sony does surprise me with the 200-600.

Hey thanks.
Yes it does look like glass.
Just so much fun for us during these days of gnarly weather.

Tomorrow?
Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD
I didn't realize how soon!
I plan to pre this one from Adorama as soon as
it is allowable.
If anything like the 28-75 it will be another win for Tam.

I bet it will be plagued with coma though so I won't have
hopes in that direction but for a lightweight kit for possibles
this 17-28+28-75 sure sounds nice.

A Tammy 17-28 + 28-75 + 70-200 or 75-300 would be a great kit!

If tammy 17-28 is priced similarly to the 28-75, it might be my next lens. Need to fill out the uwa side of things

The new Tamron is interesting. Hopefully the IQ is stellar and then I might be in.

I like this 17-28mm 28-75mm strategy. It makes the 28-75 a whole lot more palatable imo. Wonder if they have anything long planned (75-???mm)?

Hope I like the FE 12-24mm because I just bought one from a trustworthy photographer on FM.

David, what made you decide on the 12-24? Just curious. I think it would pair well with the 24-105 lens as a very capable travel pair.
