The only negative I have with it is the bokeh isn't pleasant with busy backgrounds. However, the bokeh balls from lights are nice and round. Other than that, it's a fast focusing and quiet lens. It also had a close focusing distance of 7.48" so you can get macro-like images. The heart shaped key tag was captured by myself holding it in front of the lens with my left hand and the camera with the right hand.

AWB + High ISO test of the A73.

I like the skintone that came out from the A7III. and these AWB both at ISO6400. no color tweaking in post. no noise reduction too.

Between you and Dlee13 I’m having second thoughts about my 12-24mm/24-105mm scheme. Are you happy with the 28-75mm?

It's my default lens at home, not as much when I go out (FE 35). It's on the level of the 12-24, constant 2.8 is so convenient, it feels like I have my 24-70ii back, without the bulk and weight. Close focus is pretty darn nifty. Bokeh may be an issue @ 75, dependent on the background, I'm just not terribly picky with the lens and performs well on the R3.

On the flip side, shooting most of my snaps with the A9, the Tamron won't even give you 15fps, only 10. That's a pretty big deal once you warm up to the camera. The A9 is a little beast, and the difference with fully native lenses is noticeably better. 10 vs 15-20 fps you will recognize with use. It bothers me a little, however the Tam is so nice, not going to add any bulk to my kit, ide rather keep it small and take the fps loss.

12-24f4 vs 17-28f2.8

I run into a few issues and may simply run both.

Internal zoom + super wide + gimbal = pure movie making magic.

Filter system, 77mm filter trick vs 67mm, both really convenient, either way I'm ok.

Low light, again 2.8 is nicer.

The majority of use for either lens would be landscapes and video, not much people photography where low light and bokeh is important, so the draw for the 17-28 isn't super high. I may still buy it just because the 28-75 has been so Impressive.

I'm still caught up in the honeymoon phase with the CV 21, much love.

In honor of Ansel Adams, its his birthday today...he loved the National Parks system...as do I. So black and white it is...one of only a few traditional LE's I shot on this trip.

Thank you Travis. I used a combination of HSL and contrast adjustments in Lightroom and Silver Efex in Photoshop. I didn't want to push it too far because it's easy to create artifacts in the sky. It's really amazing how much detail the Sony RAW file captures.

Oh, I did use Lumenzia for targeted dodging/burning. Did you upgrade to version 7?

I will have to check out that, I have an LE from up on that high ridge we climbed up on that I would love to pull some details out of the sky...but have not had much luck yet...

I have not updated Lumenzia yet...life has been crazy lately going through a reno at home...

The image overall seems a bit underexposed but it's amazing how the tree colors blend in so well with the cliff behind it.

I'm very happy with mine! I have honestly never liked using zooms and always preferred primes. I wanted something between 35mm and 85mm and doubted I'd use the 55mm much as I don't particularly like the 50mm FL over 35mm so decided on this lens. It's really great for travel and as a walk around lens.

IQ I've been really impressed with it. The sharpened wide open has been really good at all FL I've used. AF has been fast and accurate and I've only had trouble in one situation. This was here in San Francisco at a place called The Cheesecake Factory. It was crazy dark wit horrible lighting and I was at f/3.5, 1/30th sec and ISO 16,000 but still couldn't focus properly so I ended up using MF. This was the only time this lens had issues focusing.

I do find that the breaking point of the AF may be half stop before the equivalent sony lens? The Zony 35 generally performs well in low light, and in the lowest of light levels the zony wins it. it's at really really low light levels, so YMMV.

IQ holds up well, even with the R3 body, the optics are seriously impressive. I was concerned, like the old 28-75, the IQ would be botched on the edges, not the case. It's clearly optically stronger than the Tamrons one generation back. I say one gen back resolved well for 24mp, but flaws can be more readily seen with higher MP count. Their latest work well wide open, even with higher MP bodies. Kind of the reason I'm drawn to the 2.8 version....... just because it'll be real good and inexpensive. I have a summer trip, if Tamron can release before then, I'll preorder. Planning to go to SE asia, can definitely use that extra stop of light.

Since the only other FE lens I have that I use regularly is the 85mm f/1.8, I haven't really tested it in extreme low light and will take your word for it.

You know this theory doesn't just go for third party lenses but does mainly apply to them. I personally believe that a lot of lenses that were designed for DSLR's and appeared to be soft wide open weren't as bad as they seemed. They just weren't hitting critical focus properly. That's one of the main reasons I love Mirrorless cameras, there's no miss communication between the lens and sensor due to the mirror and less room for error. I used to have retest all my lenses every few months to make sure they were spot on when using DSLR's so it's good never having to worry. You see a lot of people use the old 50L and 85L 1.2 lenses on Sony bodies and say how they perform so much better on Mirrorless. To me that's due to the more accurate AF than anything else.

But back on topic, the Tamron is definitely a really great choice and well worth getting :p

i used to love the 135mm. perfect for portrait except when there's little kids. it's hard to engage on them when you're too far away. i'm having a hard time getting their attention. they look everywhere. When you're close it's easier. if you wanna do candids shots on them it should be perfect.

the 105mm focal length is perfect if it's not a giant.

thanks for your feedback. is the 85gm still your priority portrait? I was looking at my old pictures the other day and realized that I loved the 50mm while using crop, which means that I need the 85 lol. so I'm pretty sure I will get it in the future. a7s3 first!!

Thats drone certification I believe.

vinmunoz wrote in post #18812115 (external link)
thanks. it's a certification if you wanna use your drone commercially. you don't have to for hobby but you still need to follow the FAA regulations like not flying near airport, not flying above 400 above ground level, etc.

Thanks for the clarification :D

David,
Kale, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower are mainstays in my diet.
Avocado too :)
Only thing we feel 'limited' on is fruits. Gone are bananas/oranges/etc. the
high sugar fruits.
But in are blueberries, strawberries,blackberries.
I do miss raisins though.

Anyway a landscape via the 100400GM
