I upgraded my home weather station today. This one even records Lightning strikes.

very interesting Gene.

Thanks. So far, I'm very pleased with my new weather station and the added features. The HD monitor is sweet too. It has a 'sleep' mode that only displays minimum information dimly lit on a black screen. A touch of the screen opens the full color display with all weather information at a glance.

If anyone is interested, here's my weather station on the Weather Underground website. Now you can see the weather as it is at my house anytime. :-)

https://www.wunderground.com …n/dashboard?ID=KCAHEMET75 (external link)

It takes a few days for the monitor's 'learning mode' to more accurately predict future forecasts but even now, it does predict rain in the next 12 - 24 hours.

That's neat, Gene. I'm 'watching' you! Interestingly everything is reported here (in the UK) in metric units.

Awesome! Thanks Annie, I never knew my weather page would give the correct measurements internationally. :-)

The way the day is going, I'm hoping my rain gauge will get a workout later today too. I've had a lot of rain so far this year, which is unusual for Southern California.

It will be more interesting when some statistics build up. Unbelievably, it's almost as warm here in the north of Scotland (8.4°C) as in California (9.3°C).

That's my one regret upgrading my weather station, losing past weather data. Too bad I can't combine that data with my new station but it won't take long to generate lots more weather data in the future.

Heading to Vegas tomorrow out of MCO, where it has been snowing. I'm not sure whether I am excited to shoot a snow-covered strip, or terrified at the prospect of people driving in LV in snow where there are no plows or salt trucks...

No matter what, I'm sure I'll have something to shoot.

Even if it is a heaping plate of Nachos from Nacho Daddy.

Taken with the Sony Xperia XA Ultra.

Seems odd to see what appears to be a palm tree in what looks like a mountainous environment.

Palm tree? Are you referring to that yucca on the right side of the frame?
