a 3 image focus stack...one of the harder astro images I have ever done...one image for the first rock, one for the next and one for the mountains/stars...my final PSD file was nearly 2GB....

Such a cool shot Travis. Love the S curve. I don't think mine turned out well due to missing focus on the 2nd rock.

This is a six exposure panorama shot in portrait orientation this afternoon. It gives some idea of the snow Mt San Jacinto got yesterday.

On the far side of the mountain lies Palm Springs.

No sig on this shot.

It's been challenging to get anything done on my computer since I'm getting a lot extra "help". :p POTN with Gene's Mt San Jacinto picture is on my monitor in the background. Mindy loves to lay down on my desk between me and my keyboard while I'm working. Of course I'll likely never actually get a picture of that.

You can probably see Mt Baldy too. This was certainly one instance I wish I had a drone so I could get above all the distracting objects in the foreground.

That's pretty much the same for me except in the opposite direction, 10 hours to Hawaii and another 5 to SF.

When I check furtherst Place from Sydney it's all cities and not parts of the ocean haha. I think if you flew here you would need several stopovers or sit on a place for 20+ hours.

Is there much to see there? I know Steve Aoki has a new pizza place in Oakland.

Other than sports (NBA: Golden State Warriors, MLB: Oakland Athletics, NFL: Oakland Raiders) there's not much. Jack London Square, Lake Merritt. Lots of eateries like Fenton's Creamery which is the ice cream shop in Pixar's UP. The Pixar campus is in neighboring Emeryville as well.

Edit: There are some great places to take photos like Grizzly Peak in the Oakland Hills. You get a great view over Oakland and San Francisco

Worse than Oakland used to be Hunter's Point. I don't know what it's like now though.

I haven't been to that side of the Mission in a long time. I don't even know what it's like now haha

I got the AcuRite Atlas Weather Station and High Definition Touchscreen Display with the lightning detector module. So far, I'm pleased with it with one exception, the clock in the display is 20 minutes slow in a 24 hour period. I'll try to contact Acurite's Support today and see what they say about it.

For those of you considering the weather station I just purchased, I wanted to share a quick update regarding the slow clock on my new weather station display. I contacted Acurite Support via 'live chat' and it was suggested that I go into the menu on the display and do a 'Factory Reset'. While this deleted the weather history stored in the device (but not on Weather Underground) and any custom settings, it does seem to have done the trick. The clock is keeping perfect time after nearly 24 hours from doing the reset. At the time I did the reset, it was slow by 46 minutes.

Oh, the 'future forecast' nighttime image on the display appears to be showing the current phase of the moon too. This image, for both day and night, is animated as well. :-)

Going round in circles with the 24GM it seems. Can’t decide if I should sell my Batis for it. This video shows that they are very similar. It seems that it comes down to wether I need f/1.4 or not. The Batis used price is half of the GM new price in the Uk

Is anyone aware of any infinity distance side by side tests?

Thanks. It took a while in the field to get the focus right, bummer that yours missed on the second rock.

Another rock shot...the sunset didn't look to do much and then the North and East skies kinda lit up and we all stopped talking and started shooting again...

I'm not sure that I would.

Batis is smaller, and at 25mm, I'm not sure 1 stop is that big of a difference.

Ask your self is there anything I could not get/shoot with the Batis, that the Sony would have.

Ask your self, do I want or do I need.

Besides f1.4 vs f2, the way the two render could be another factor.

Good luck with your choice

Oh yeah I remember when the light happened. Cool shot!

This is when I took off to reach the bigger rocks on the other side of the playa. I made it halfway and found a small rock. I grabbed a few shots as the sky started to glow. I set my bag down and ran about a quarter mile to reach the big rocks. Then it got crazy dark and I couldn’t find my bag. Haha!

Lol. I was so relieved when I found it. Justin saved the day when he let me borrow two of his lights. That would have been a cool long exposure with me holding the lights above my head and zigzagging across the playa.
